Transportation Logistics: What is the best LIRR station to park at?
If OOT guests wanted to park at a LIRR parking lot and take the LIRR into Manhattan, what would be their best choice?Do you need a town permit?
I've always only taken the Hicksville and Port Washington LIRR.

where is your room block?A lot of the bigger stations--Babylon, Huntington, etc--require permits. You might be able to find out about permits on the MTA-LIRR website. I aways forget what it is, but google should work.

If it's on the weekend, the Ronkonkoma station is empty and HUGE and you don't need a permit and it's free.

Re: Transportation Logistics: What is the best LIRR station to park at?
Many guests (family from overseas) will be staying at my parents' house in Huntington so Hotel Bridex100.I didn't block another hotel block in LI but I think others will also be staying near our house. hmmm Maybe I should be blocking more rooms that are close to my house vs. close to the RH. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh so many million details.
Are there any good LIRR stations around Roosevelt Field that have parking?
I think I'll send them over to Roosevelt Field to go shopping. That should keep them occupied.

Any of those stations- Mineola, Carle Place, Westbury, even Hicksville don't always have the best parking. On a weekend though I would think it would be easier. My guess is Mineola is a good choice, but that would be a cab ride to the mall.

If they finished construction, they should... but it's not free.

Actually I lied---Huntington doesn't require permit/money on the weekends.

Re: Transportation Logistics: What is the best LIRR station to park at?
Parking's not the best at the Nassau train stations. They could always take a cab to the closest train station. Compared to finding their way to the train station and paying for metered parking or a garage that may be easier.

I don't think any of the stations require permits or money on the weekends. Huntington is nice and big and has two parking garages, and since your family is staying there, that would work out well. I would just double check with the town about the weekend thing.

Many of them do. Lynbrook, for example, requires a permit 7 days a week.

I know it's not the closest but Merrick is pretty empty on the weekends and you don't need a permit.

Mineola has a lot of parking and it is free after 6 pm. Saturdays there is a free garage across from Winthrop which is a 2 second walk away. Port Wash. is one of the fastest lines, but the parking is tougher. Carle place is a smaller station on the Mineola Line and you just park right in the residential area

Re: Transportation Logistics: What is the best LIRR station to park at?
A lot of the LIRR stations have free parking after 5 or 6 on the weekdays and free on the weekends. YOu should definitely check the stations though to double-check because in some of them, you can even park on the street in the residential neighborhoods.

Re: Transportation Logistics: What is the best LIRR station to park at?
yeah, huntington requires a permit only during business hours on weekdays. Otherwise, that garage is free. You can also drive south and go to deer park, if they would like to use the LIRR during peak hours. There's never a permit requirement there.

The Babylon branch runs along the south shore and Huntington is North, but a lot of the Babylon brach lots have free parking on the weekends like Massapequa, Seaford, Wantagh, Bellmore, Merrick. From any of these stops it's about a 50 minute ride.Welcome New Vendors
