I posted this on the vendors helping brides board as well but thought it might be nice to post it here as well and see what the rest of you ladies thought:
I have a question. I am an event coordinator in Orlando, Florida. Each month I rent a 49 passenger bus to transport some clients from a hotel near the airport to a specific facility. The cost for doing this is $45/hr. It seems that most vendors on long island charge about double this cost. I know some of the difference can be chalked up the cost of living...but I don't think that cost of living can account for a difference of almost $450. Am I missing something? Can someone please explain?

Re: Transportation Question
That is a bunch of crap! I know you used to be in the industry so I am not sure if you are taking the defensive. But a lot of workers working for less money plus supplies costing less and a million other factors account for the huge difference of housing prices. We are talking about a bus that I doubt any of the companies bought from a NY inflated price company. I just can not justify the difference of price in my head.

Re: Transportation Question
Even though I worked in the industry I honestly don't know the price differenced between NY & Fla. companies, maybe the cost of living here, insurance etc? See what the vendors answer you

Re: Transportation Question
The simple answer, whether we like it or not is, they do it because they can. As long as everyone in the market is doing it they can charge whatever they want. And we're crazy because we question the guy who's $200 cheaper than the rest. Until we are no longer willing to pay insane prices, the companies will keep charging them.

Re: Transportation Question
you hit the nail right on the head Jen524. And judging from what everyone here is paying....they are going to keep on charging these prices.
