Ok...I honestly don't understand how anyone can do this.
I've seen some amazing photos of these shoots, but stilllllll....it seems SO insane to do this.
I think I would lose my mind!
Can anyone explain this concept to me? Not that I'd ever do it in a million years, but it'll satisfy my curiosity of trying to understand the appeal of this ....

Re: Trash The Dress?!?!
some brides do crazy stuff and actually trash their dress, but what most brides here seem to do is a photoshoot at a different/non-bridal location, usually after the wedding.
i know there are a couple of 2010 brides did shoots at roller skating rinks and coney island.
i thought of doing some at strike bowling alley, but then they closed....booooo.
i certainly would never actually trash my dress!

This! Most do not actually 'trash' their dress they just take pictures in a 'different' location just for cute pics!

I dont get this either.. so you have to get back into your dress, get all done up again for pics just to 'trash' it?????? lol seems like a lot of work but I guess if good pics come out of it ......

Re: Trash The Dress?!?!
it depends on what you want to do with your dress..i want to ttd at the promenade in nyc and my fh's pct in brooklyn. it isnt any different than wearing it outside..im not damaging it or anything. and personally i think if you spend the money on it, you might as well get more use out of it...
after the ttd shoot i will wash and preserve it like you would normally do after the wedding.
even going into the ocean won't destroy your dress...

Re: Trash The Dress?!?!
yeah I plan to do this myself but I don't want to actually ruin my dress. I'm just going to take pictures at a unique location (something I would not have been able to do the day of). Sure my dress may get a little dirty but no big deal - it's not like I'm ever going to wear it again!

Re: Trash The Dress?!?!
I am doing a TTD but not actually TRASHING my dress. We are just doing photos at a later date at a cute location where I don't have to worry about getting the hem dirty or ruining my dress. I don't plan on rolling around in the mud or throwing paint on it or anything...lol. Just capturing fun moments without the stress of the day of.

FH really wants to do this because he thinks it would be fun. But I could never trash my dress. What I was thinking of doing is buying another dress and then doing the shoot!

Re: Trash The Dress?!?!
I am absolutely doing a TTD shoot with NO intention of actually ruining my dress. It was WAY too much money.
However, I wouldn't really mind getting it a little dirty if it could be cleaned. It is going to sit in a box afterwards anyway.

Re: Trash The Dress?!?!
Crashing over here! I was the one who jumped in the ocean at Coney Island. I did not want to trash my dress either, but the shoot took place on one of the HOTTEST days of 2010. It was sunset and it was mid-90s. We decided to run through the sprinkler and at that point we were so soaked, why the heck not jump in the ocean? Miraculously, my dress is in excellent condition. There is not a stain or watermark or anything on it. It was extremely sandy and heavy but I hung it in our spare bedroom and shook all the sand out and it's good as new. In fact, it's cleaner than it was after our wedding day! All in all, the shoot was an amazing experience and I would do it all over again the exact same way. Even DH had a good time doing it! I also highly recommend Arek at Lovemore Photo- he's awesome!

Re: Trash The Dress?!?!
My friends did a 'post nuptial' or 'after shoot' and I really loved it... it was a toned down version of their wedding day photos...

Re: Trash The Dress?!?!
My photographer calls it a 'day after' shoot.
You get to dress up again in your wedding day attire, take pictures at a location that you may not have been able to go to on the day of. You also have the chance to take all of the 'must have photos' that you may have missed.
I plan to do both. A day after shoot and a trash the dress. Only I am going to buy a cheap off the rack dress to trash the shiiiit out of
I think the pictures in the water, rolling around in dirt and sand are amazingggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If anyone has the ballinis to trash their real dress, power to you!!!!

I'm doing this with Amanda Picone in a totally different location than my wedding pics (still unsure where) I think she calls them 'unbridled' now
