Ok...I honestly don't understand how anyone can do this.
I've seen some amazing photos of these shoots, but stilllllll....it seems SO insane to do this.
I think I would lose my mind!
Can anyone explain this concept to me? Not that I'd ever do it in a million years, but it'll satisfy my curiosity of trying to understand the appeal of this ....

Crashing over here! I was the one who jumped in the ocean at Coney Island. I did not want to trash my dress either, but the shoot took place on one of the HOTTEST days of 2010. It was sunset and it was mid-90s. We decided to run through the sprinkler and at that point we were so soaked, why the heck not jump in the ocean? Miraculously, my dress is in excellent condition. There is not a stain or watermark or anything on it. It was extremely sandy and heavy but I hung it in our spare bedroom and shook all the sand out and it's good as new. In fact, it's cleaner than it was after our wedding day! All in all, the shoot was an amazing experience and I would do it all over again the exact same way. Even DH had a good time doing it! I also highly recommend Arek at Lovemore Photo- he's awesome!
your TTD shoot is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

I dont really get it either, Granted besides keeping your dress preserved in a box for years what else are you gonna do with it? But I'm gonna cut mine into my daughters christening dress (...if I have a daughter! lol)

I thought it would be cool to rent an ice rink and play some hockey in my gown. If I have the money I may do it. I've been playing ice hockey since I was 3. That would be the perfect TTD location for me!
