Travel Agent
So I'm trying to plan a little mini-moon for FH and I in Key West for right after the wedding. I gave the travel agent that I was referred to us a budget of $2K. She was able to find flights and a beautiful hotel within our budget (also including tax). Here's the thing...I went on Expedia.com and basically planned the same vacation for $600 less. Same hotel and flights! What gives?
This gives me 2nd thoughts about using a travel agent. Are you girls booking your honeymoons on your own or using a service?
TIA!

Re: Travel Agent
I was also disappointed with my travel agent. The onlyreason we booked with an agent is because it was expensive and I wanted to purchase insurance for the trip. I did not have too much time to look into honeymoon travel with all my wedding planning.
I haven't used a travel agent in over 10 years and I don't think I will use one again.
What hotel are you staying at in KW? I know you have awhile, but I recommend Louie's Backyard for dinner one night. Call about 2 weeks before to get a table outside.

I'm on the fence about travel agents because I have ALWAYS been able to find better deals, I book all of our vacations whenever we go away. The only reason I would want to use one is bc if anything goes wrong while you're away they handle it for you. But since you'll still be in the US and you found such a cheaper price you might be better off booking it yourself!

I'm planning on booking myself. I only ever use a travel agent when we are planning a group or family trip just so we can book together. Otherwise I do it myself.

I never use a travel agent. I always feel that they push places that they will get a kick back from. Also I heard that you can purchase travel insurance through American Express that is cheap and you don't have book the actual vacation from them.

I will never use an agent. We priced our Alaska vacation through an agent and the price we received was substantially higher than what we paid in the end! I have no idea how the agents work, but it's so wort it to just plan the vacation on your own!
