Travel agents

Never used them. Do you pay them a fee? How does it work?

at liberty travel, they look up flights, hotels etc for you. I dont think there is a fee.

With travel tom, there is no fee. I would contact him, you have nothing to lose. He'll find you a package and you can take it, or ask for another, or go to someone else. hth

Yep, no fee at Liberty Travel. Or if there is, it is disguised in the flight and hotel prices somewhere.

We used Liberty for our HM.

I used Leslie at Travel Solutions by Marcia (dealt with Marcia too, they are both wonderful!)
If there was a fee it was hidden b/c I didn't notice it... so I'm going to say no.
Either way they got me a better deal that anyone else including Travel Tom!

Same here ... Leslie & Marcia were both fantastic! I highly recommend them

(I didn't compare prices with this Tom guy, so I can't say anything either way about him)

Right, Travel Agents don't charge fees for what they do (if you find one who does, he's not legit so run far awaaaaaaay). They get paid through commissions from the places they book you into, so they have vested interest in the hotels you stay at, airlines you use, etc. and will usually try to steer you into the places that give them the best kickbacks. But those places are just as good as any other places (if they weren't, the TA wouldn't get referrals or repeat business) so if it saves you money in the end, who cares?

We had to pay about 25% up front as a deposit, and the rest is due 60 days before we depart.

ETA: I used Travel Tom (Varghese) for my HM, only the second time I used a TA for any trip, and thought he was pretty good. He saved me a lot of work and research, anyway.

I also used Travel Tom. I researched everything prior to contacting him, and he gave us a great price. I also looked up the hotels he chose for us to make sure they were good, and they had excellent reviews. No fee! He will also stay within your budget!

Good Luck!
