Travel Registry

Travel Registry

hi all,

we're contemplating a travel registry (w/ liberty travel) to help off-set the cost of the honeymoon.

has anyone else done this? any pros/cons you can offer would be appreciated!

thanks!

My only suggestion is to make sure you offer a wide variety of price ranges for guests to choose from, from excursions to a couples massage to chocolates.

great advice - we're def trying to be mindful of everyone's budgets and are planning to do just that - offer all denominations.
thanks for the feedback!

Theres some good and bad to the travel registry. i use to like it and now i dont. u determine what you want to do excursion wise and wine and massages and you give it a price value. your guest then 'buys' that for you as a gift. this does not actually reserve anything. You then get a check in the amount of what every spent on things from ur travel registry. You can have your travel agent actually book those things for you, but if you decide to just take the cash be careful because then aunt joan might call and ask how that couples massage was that u never got. haha.

just wasnt sure if everyone knew how the liberty travel registry actually works.

i mean either the person is going to give you cash, a gift off ur registry, or off ur travel registry. i personally rather just get the cash so i dont have to worry about waiting for a check to come and yadda yadda. i rather just get the cash at the wedding and use that torwards the wedding. i think we're going to take 1k from wedding gifts to bring for excursions and food and massages.

FH and I live together and have almost everything we want, definitely everything we need. So we did the Honeymoon Registry. Everyone thought it was a great idea... and since FH and have been together, we have been on at least 30 vacations... we travel a lot... Everyone knows this. So it just made sense.

Re: Travel Registry

Liberty Travel and many other travel agencies use Honeymoonwishes.com or
TravelersJoy.com

Others are
Honeyfund.com
The Big Day.com
SendusOff.com

Mainly the first two though are popular with travel agencies.

Re: Travel Registry

we just begean to register online - Im working with a woman named Debbie.

we also live together and we have a lot of what we need/want. I know some people prefer to give an actual gift vs. money so I think this makes them feel like they're giving us something (not just money). And we just dont want to 'over-register' for the sake of registering. This is a gift that willl enable us to have an amazing experience.

My one hesistation is the 7% service charge that our friends/family will have to pay when they use the site. Liberty Travel explains that the fee is to maintain the site, etc and justifies it by reminding us that our guests wont have to buy wrapping paper, drive to a store, etc. Its one stop shopping.

I'm going to look into the other sites mentioned above - have never heard of them, interested to learn more.

thanks!

ooo yea i forgot about the service charge. you can either pay the service fee or the guests can. (like the guests wont need to know). I know a few debbis i prob know ur travel agent!:)

FH and I also live together for a few years but theres still some things we want so it was def worth doing a registry. the travel registry might be a headache , who knows. im still all about the cash as a present lol

Re: Travel Registry

ME TOO!
Ive had so many close friends/family members get married recently and they all had several (not a ton - but enough) people give them random gifts vs. cash. So this is our tactful way of getting some money while still letting them feel like they're getting us an actual gift.
Im with ya on the cash tho - ESP at the wedding.
