Jack is 3 months old and we are considering a trip to Dallas to visit our friends in the next few weeks. Anyone travel with their baby when they were this young? How did it go?

My personal opinion...I wouldn't travel with a baby that young. He is still very vulnerable to all the elements involved with travel. Germs from the general public, not to mention on an airplane. That's my honest opinion. That said, if you must travel, just be sure you speak with his Ped. before you go...I'm sure he/she will be able to offer some advice/guidlines for traveling with your angel. Good luck.

You can definitely travel with a baby that young. My cousin flew to from NY to FL and back just this December with a THREE WEEK OLD. Just check with the pediatrician -- and watch, I bet he/she says it's fine.
Just make sure you take precautions to keep the baby soothed and quiet on the plane. My cousin's baby slept the whole time but she had a bottle ready to go.

When my brother's wife gave birth to my niece in NY, her pediatrician said the baby should not fly until at least 4 months preferably 6. My brother was stationed in Louisiana at the time so my father ended up driving them to Louisiana just to be safe. Then again it takes 3 planes to get to where he lived in Leesville LA, and then a 1 hour drive from the airport. Talk about boondocks.

I would get your Ped's thoughts on it, I know mine didn't even want me to have him in public until 3 months! I was careful, BUT I needed to get out and I did.
I think that Jack is probably at the best age to travel in terms of keeping him happy in fact he will probably sleep the whole time.
We are going to Florida when Aidan will be just over 9 months so he's at a little different stage... its too bad Tracy has left for Ireland already because I know that she traveled to Ireland several times with Patrick when he was an infant. She'll be back the end of the month if you want to ask her any questions, just FM her!

I will be traveling with our baby when s/he is approx 8 weeks old. I am due April 1 and we are scheduled to return home on or about June 1. The flight from Ireland to NY is about 6 hours, which is probably close to what the flight is to Dallas. I would discuss it with the your ped but I would go. DH's mom took him from Argentina to NY when he was 28 days old and that is an 11 hour flight.
