Hello everyone. I recently got my ering appraised in order to get it insured. All I have to say is now I am even more nervous wearing it since I know how much it's worth......
My fiance and I are planning to go away on a romantic vacation in June/July. We are probably going to go to Riviera Maya, Mexico. I have never traveled to another country with my ring and everyone tells me how careful I should be. My mom said that I probably shouldn't even bring it . I really want to be able to wear it. because I feel naked without it and I love it.
Ladies who have traveled with theirs or ladies who have been on their honeymoon.................what did you doooooooo??

I plan on buying a fake ring for my HM. Check out QVC. The diamonique rings are pretty nice.

Re: Traveling with your E-RING.
I've traveled with my e-ring before many times and nothing has happened. (knock on wood)
My only word of caution is---be careful at the beach! My best friend's mom lost her wedding band in the ocean. When I go to the beach, I usually leave the ring in the room safe.
HTH!

Re: Traveling with your E-RING.
I went on a cruise this past November and brought my e-ring with me. I pretty much kept it the safe ALL day while on the ship-just don't like to wear it to the gym/pool etc. BUt i wore it at night to dinner & the shows. I kept it locked in the safe in Jamaica (went to dunns falls and didn't want to risk it slipping off or loosing it); it stayed in the safe in Grand Cayman (went swimming w/sting rays so didn't want to wear it in the water); kept it in the safe in Mexico (swam w/dolphins). So i pretty much locked it up ALL day; and only wore it at night.

Oh my........I could cry for your best friends mom! Is the room safe........truly safe? I have heard stories here and there (not at the hotel we are staying at) where things have been stolen from the safe . Maybe I am just being extra crazy?

Re: Traveling with your E-RING.
When I went to Sandals Antigua last summer, I purchased a fake engagement ring that looked exactly like my real one. I didn't want to take a chance bringing it with me.

This is what I do. I always bring it with me, but leave it in the safe in the room when you're going to the beach or pool.

I've worn it for domestic travels, but not when I went to Italy and France this past fall.

Re: Traveling with your E-RING.
FH would not let me bring my ring on vacation with us. I bought a fake one from Macys and thank goodness I did because I DID loose it at the beach! I was soo happy he made me do that and it was the fake one and not the REAL one.

I don't think your real ring will mind
But I hear you. I would feel much worse if I lost it then if I wore a fake for a few days.

I'm a flight attendant, so I travel international weekly and I always wear my ring. Dont take it off in the hotels, but I wouldnt be too concerned.

Re: Traveling with your E-RING.
I second the QVC diamoniques. Also, keep in mind that most of the country (and the world) is more used to much smaller diamond engagement rings than the NY norm of 1 carat+, so you could get away with a half-carat 'fake'. Your 'NY-sized' diamond may actually make an even bigger target in some areas of the world.

Re: Traveling with your E-RING.
I leave mine home when I travel. It is insured but why take a chance. I have had things stolen from my hotel room when I traveled in the past from high end hotels...It is just not worth it to me.

Re: Traveling with your E-RING.
if you have it insured and the ring fits you well then I wouldn't worry about taking it on vacation...I went to the bahamas in January and didn't have any problems, i wore it 24/7. I did turn the ring backwards(diamond facing my palm) when we went to town and in the airport, didn't want to bring any attention to it ya know?
plenty of people travel with their jewerly especially erings and wedding bands
and i would not trust a safe, i want it on my finger where i can see it and feel it at all times!

Re: Traveling with your E-RING.
I have been traveling all over the country (I do for work) and we have been on a few vay-kay's since being engaged.
I have had no problem and wear the ring where ever I go. It is appraised over 20, but its insured so I just dont think about it.
We both decided very early on that my ring is NEVER worth my life. They want it, they are welcome to it. Its NOT flashy, but anyone could rob me (on the subway, in a deli...) But we decided for me to enjoy it and wear it.
Now, If I KNEW I was going somewhere that was not safe I would not wear it. I also would not wear ANY jewelry either..but I really havent come across any situation like that.
Hope this helps.
