Travelling While your Pregnant

Did anyone do a last minute getaway before the baby arrived?

My doctor said I could travel up until my 36th week. I am 24 weeks now and wanted to plan a trip for jamaica in my 28th week. Its kinda late I know but my husband finally agreed that he would go and I 've been itching for some sun.

How late in the pregnancy did you go away and where to?

We did - went to the Keys for four days at my 28th week. It was sooo great - i didn't feel that big yet, flying was no problem and it wasn't that far. My DH and I definitely needed a little break before the baby. I highly recommend it. I would try to schedule something before 32 weeks though as I think the airlines will permit it up to six weeks before your due date.

As soon as I became pregnant, DH and I planned our last hoorah trip -lol. But we went when I was 17 weeks and it was fine. I did find I didn't have as much energy as I usually do but was fine. We went to SD and LA and did a lot of walking so I tired easy...but it was fun. I think later is fine....I had to go early because I was too busy at work to go any later.

We are going to Sanibel Island in Florida for 5 days next week - I will be in my 29th week.

Oh good, I'm glad to see people are travelling in their mid 20 weeks for vacation. I was scared it would be too late but I had my hopes on going on vacation for so long.

any of you girls been to jamaica? where would you stay?

My friend went to Jamaica pretty late in her pregnancy - they stayed at the Ritz I believe and had a great time.

I travelled up until my 33rd week. I went to Spain in my 28th week and then I flew home to NY when I was 30 weeks pg, returned to Ireland when I was 33 weeks. Enjoy your trip!

We went to St. Johns in my 20th week...as long as the dr says its ok..you should go. Just make sure that you stay hydrated and dont get too hot

I went to Jamacia a few weeks ago and I was 12 weeks. We stayed at Sandals Dunns River. We had a great time!

my FSIL is 29 weeks & she is flying tonight to Dallas for the weekend..Her doctor told her as long as she felt up to it!

I went to the Bahamas (Atlantis) when I was 26-27 weeks preggo. It was fine and I had a blast!!

Thanks everyone for your help. I am much reassured that I made the right choice to take a vacation.

We decided to go to jamaica in june for 5 days and we are staying at the half moon resort in montego bay.
