We just closed last week, and already found out that the tree that provided beautiful shade in the backyard is almost totally dead - on Sunday there was a giant branch in the yard that had fallen during the wind - and it was hollowed out on the inside. Now we're nervous and want to get it down before we get hit with any hurricanes, etc., especially since there are young children we have as neighbors.
Can anyone recommend a tree removal service?

Re: Tree Removal
We have a huge tree in our front yard that is completely dead and is now growing mold on some areas. Poor tree :(
We have to remove it - how much does it cost to remove a tree?

Re: Tree Removal
One of our neighbors had a tree removed recently - which he said was HUGE - it was gone before we saw the house, so I don't know exactly how big - but he said he paid 1400 because it was in the backyard - apparently front yard is cheaper because its easier to land the branches in the street.

Re: Tree Removal
we are having a huge tree removed (in front by power lines), 3 trees pruned (side), and one dead branch from another tree (back) cut for 1000 - we think this is high, but supposedly the company we are using does a good job and has a good reputation
this is in new jersey...

Re: Tree Removal
I just got a quote to remove 3 huge trees (they are dying because of ant infestation). To cut the trees down, and cut up the wood for firewood they qouted me $1,350. To cart the wood away would be an additional $300. My neighbor just used them and was happy with the work. Let me know if you are interested and I will get you the name/number.

Re: Tree Removal
WOW! I need to have this huge Pine tree in my backyard removed. It's really tall. I guess it's gonna cost alot of $$. Uggh!! Someone mentioned on this board awhile ago a place that does it for free. Hard to believe, but the person who posted never got back with additional info.

Re: Tree Removal
The people who do it for free are Mauders (sp?) out on eastern LI- they will remove the tree if it's something they can sell- they won't do it for dead tress though and it has to be a tree that's in good condition.

We had 2 mid sized trees and one very tiny tree removed for $600 in July.
