Tri-State Consumer Insurance

Tri-State Consumer Insurance

Hi girls, can anyone tell me if they have any experience with this company. They gave me a really good price on homeowners insurance and car insurance, but I was on hold for 1 hour and the lady was kind of snotty. I mean the price difference is almost half of what Allstate quoted me. But I am afraid of the expression, 'too good to be true'! I don't want to save money if I have to deal with an unprofesssional company and be on hold for an hour if my roof caves in..... So, what do I do? Any advice, anyone have any experience with this company! Please respond ASAP! Hope to make a decision today!

Re: Tri-State Consumer Insurance

I have one car that is covered by Tri-State, which is the car that my son drives. I have to say that my experience with Tri-State when it comes to customer service and claims has been terrible. Their hours are not really very convenient and the reps are not the nicest.

My biggest concern is their claims service which I found to be absolutely terrible. My son was involved in an accident on Christmas night (not his fault and not hurt thankfully) and it took me almost a week to get any answers from Tri-State and then only when I got really angry and demanded a manager. They have only one in house auto adjuster(this is totally unacceptable and unrealistic) and because he was on vacation they had to use an independent adjuster who was impossible to get an appointment with. If I told you the whole story it would take an hour to read it.

Also..just to add a bit more to this, I worked for many years as a customer service and sales supervisor for a company that sells and services property and casualty insurance (auto and home). I know how important it is to have a claims department that responds quickly as well as good customer service. I took the policy because of the cheaper cost and I ended up being sorry that I did. I know better.

Suffice it to say that I am not renewing my policy with Tri-state and that I would not recommend them to anyone.
