I went to Macy's to try on wedding dresses today and I am sooooo depressed. I hated the way I looked in all of the dresses. To make matters worse is that the person said they dont have many plus size gowns for women like me. It made me feel even worse. I am not the smallest girl but come on. I normally wear a size 10 but I was a size 18!!! Totally makes me feel self conscious and not in the mood to try any more on until I lose 30 lbs.
Is anyone else feeling this way??????????????
I thought I was going to feel great wearing the dress, you always hear that any bride looks beautiful. I felt the complete opposite and wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.

I went to Macy's first and hated it. Go somewhere else and they will make you feel beautiful.

Go somewhere else!!! That is so wrong of them to treat you like that! I would report them to BBB!
If they are giving you problems, I really don't want to know what they would say to me
We're getting married the same day (Yay date twins!) but I'm waiting til September to look. I'm sure you'll have better luck at another salon.

Dont let the 1st time get you down. I have to say go to Lillettes in Baldwin and ask for Gerri. She is great!!!! Another nice place is Beautiful Bride in Lynbrook.

aww dont let that one experiance leave a bad taste in your mouth!!
i would try a bridal shop rather then macys, they should have a much bigger selection in a range of sizes.

1st off Wedding dresses run small small small. I am a 12/14 and my dress was an 18. What kind of dresses were you trying on. I would go to a place like Davids just because they have a HUGE assortment to try. Try not to get discouraged. You WILL know the right dress. Be patient it takes time, and you do have time. AWWWW i'm sorry you had such a bad experience. you're a bride, you should feel beautiful and you should feel like you have options. i don't think your experience at macy's is the norm and they're just D I C K S!!!! i hope your next dress experience is better!!

wedding dresses run very small! Some designers more than others. I'm a 4, and I fit perfectly into the sample 10. My mom talked me into ordering one size up just in case I gain a few lbs.
So... I ordered a 12.
I don't know why they do this -- maybe so they can get more people to order the bigger sizes and then charge them extra for it?

I went to Macy's during the trunk show and they have a diff dresses then they normally do. If you go back there go then. You should never feel like that. I had a simular situation at davids bridal. Would never go back! I really like Bridal Elegancy Phillis does not judge. She gives helpful suggestions to make it look better and she has discounts.

It's really sad that you have to deal with ignorance when you go dress shopping and you are spending money. Don't let this experience get you down because their are other stores that will treat you with the level of respect that you deserve.

Those women there are all nasty! They think they can say whatever they want. I ordered my dress at this new place in babylon on john street but I tried it on at renatta's in lindenhurst, I thought they were so nasty too. Plus the wedding gowns run small so please dont feel bad. This is supposed to be the happiest time for you. Dont let some miserable old women get you down. Keep your head up and try that place in Babylon.

I am so sorry that you had a bad experience. You'd think that these people that work in bridal shops would treat their clients with extra respect. A lot of them don't though. I really don't know how they get away with this. But, you will feel beautiful when you find 'the one'. I know you will!
