Tried on Wedding Dresses Today...

I went to Macy's to try on wedding dresses today and I am sooooo depressed. I hated the way I looked in all of the dresses. To make matters worse is that the person said they dont have many plus size gowns for women like me. It made me feel even worse. I am not the smallest girl but come on. I normally wear a size 10 but I was a size 18!!! Totally makes me feel self conscious and not in the mood to try any more on until I lose 30 lbs.

Is anyone else feeling this way??????????????

I thought I was going to feel great wearing the dress, you always hear that any bride looks beautiful. I felt the complete opposite and wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.

when i was still engaged and looking for wedding dresses, i went to Macys first... now I am a big girl (a size 16/18 in street clothes).... and the people at Macy's basically said they dont have anything for me to try on ... so then I went to David's where I KNOW they carry plus size dresses, and although it pained me to take a 24 (which if I was still wearing, would have to be altered, YAY!), the dress was gorgeous and it made me LOOK like a size 12! If you want a confidence boost, go to Davids... the girls are so sweet and will help you with everything.

ETA: and for the record, davids said that you would normally take at least 2 sizes bigger than your street clothes size. and thats with ANY wedding dress!

keep your chin up. i'm sure youre a beautiful girl, and nothing will stop you from looking like a princess at your wedding!

I understand how your feeling. When I first started looking at gowns I was about a 10. I got depressed to. As time went on I dropped to a 8 ..the fittings felt better. I was pist cause all these girls where getting into the gowns so easily!

The dresses DO RUN SMALL TOO! The samples are usually 8's and 6's and that is not a real size it is like 2 sizes smaller.

I know David's Bridal has some in different sizes on the racks.

Anyway - by time my wedding came I my dress was WAY to big for me as I was a size 5 and they ordered a 10! Uggg. You might just lose the weight during the process of stress it is very common don't get discouraged and DON'T go back to Macy's!!!

I am also a size 10 (street size) and I went to Helens bridal and they treat me great!!! and they had dress size 12 and 14 (I tried I size 12 but it was a little tight so I order I size 14)

ugh.... i'm so sorry about your experience!

i went to macys and i too was disappointed with how i felt in them. it's so ridiculous that they don't have sizes for all women. you are not even a plus sized girl, and they are stupid for not having dresses in all sizes. i'm sure that they're losing customers because they're not putting us first!

i would definitely try another place. you just have to know that you'll be the most beautiful bride and it will be the perfect day!
