TROUBLE WITH SEATING ARRANGEMENT !

We are down the home stretch and most things are done, but my FH & I are pulling our hair out over the seating arrangement for the reception.

The problem is our MOB & MOG !!

They both are insisting that they should be on Table #1 and giving me and my FH independently these guilt trips as to why they should be on table 1 !

It's so bizarre because they were never really like this, but BOTH of them see it as a insult if they are on Table 2 !!!!!

We obviously have to eventually decide, but if the wedding was tomorrow, whoever was on table 2 would have a puss on their face about it !!!

Anyone ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!

Is it the placement of the table they are concerned with or just the number? If it's just the number what about naming your tables, then it won't be obvious which table it #1. If it's the placement then you and FI have to sit down and figure out what you're going to do. You're never going to make everyone happy, so just do the best you can. HTH.

I agree, instead of numbering the tables, name them, then they won't know which is table #1.

... it's the table number itself !

We are placing the tables either side of our table - EQUAL DISTANCE FROM US SO NEITHER TABLE IS CLOSER !!!!

But we were still under the impression that we had to have a table number on the table !

... naming the tables is a thought though ...

We're probably naming our tables 'LOVE' in different languages. If you take the MOG's nationality and your nationality and write love in each of their languages, they can't think there's preferential treatment.

Whose name is on the invitation as the host - or are they jointly hosting? That could be another way of deciding who Table 1 is.

Isn't it amazing how the simplest things are so complicated with weddings?

just name the two parents tables and number al the rest starting with 2

or number your table 1 and label the parents table based on the month they were married or birth month

You don't have to do anything you don't want to. People can just as easily find their tables by name as by number. HTH.

I think you guys are right.

Initially I thought, 'well I still have to to put Parents Table 1 & Parents Table 2' which would obviously create the same problem, but I'm a dummy because clearly we could call the table whatever we want !

Hmmm ... that actually could be quite entertaining ...

Do you think they would mind if we labeled one table 'Frustrating In-Laws' & the other 'Aggravating In-Laws' !?!?!?!?!

I think we have a winner !!!!!!!

... my thoughts exactly !!!!!!

definitely go with naming the tables instead of numbers... that will solve the problem. you can think of a 'theme'- name each table after a flower, a place you and DH went together, 'love' words like ' devotion' ' commitment', etc.... types of cars ( if DH is into cars) anything you can think of!

Sorry you even have to go through this! its amazing how full grown adults can act like spoiled kids sometimes!!!

I am glad that everything is going to work out. Naming tables will definitely solve the problem. Especially if the tables are both right next to you and FH, and their only complaint is the actual number itself.

Isn't it a shame how inmature our grownup parents can act??

I think you are better off naming their two tables. I'm sorry you have to go through this, weddings can bring out the best and the worst in people.

haha I know, peoples characters can amaze you when it's wedding time !!!

... I just talked to the FH and he loves the idea of naming tables and not numbering ...
