Re: TRUE or FALSE?
True...but then again everyone is different. If some people are paying for the wedding themselves they might not have the money or reason to buy a little gift...I'm not sure yet if FH and I are exchanging..this wedding is completely draining our pockets!

Ditto. There's not right or wrong answer to this. Whatever you want and/or your budget allows.

Re: TRUE or FALSE?
IT DEPENDS SO PEOPLE DO IT AND OTHER DO NOT.. SOME PEOPLE THINK THAT THEIR WEDDING GIFT FROM THEIR FIANCE IS THEIR RING. I FLAT OUT TOLD MY FH THAT HE HAS TO BUY BE ANOTHER PRESENT FOR MY WEDDING. HE DECIDED TO BUY ME EARINGS I WILL WEAR TO OUR WEDDING.

The reason Im asking is because FH says I have enough!!

Re: TRUE or FALSE?
I would say it definitely depends on the couple

Re: TRUE or FALSE?
I know that in Jewish tradition- the bride buys her groom a talis (prayer shawl) and that the groom buys his bride Shabbos candlesticks.
I went and bought FH a new talis and then instead of buying me the candlesticks (since I had my grandmothers set) he went and bought me a 40' HD LCD TV with a new TV stand...now imo that's a good tradeoff!

Re: TRUE or FALSE?
I think it is tradition. It could be something sentimental vs. expensive.

Re: TRUE or FALSE?
We talked about it....FH says no, we don't really have the money, we're spending enough. Our wedding bands are kind of our gifts to each other. I may still do something small, but I definitely can't afford anything big and he's paying for the whole HM, so....yeah....

Re: TRUE or FALSE?
Depends. FH and I are going to use the $$$ on a day at the Spa on our honeymoon.

Re: TRUE or FALSE?
It does depend on the situation...FH and I are paying for most of the wedding ourselves so I don't think we're exchanging presents on our wedding day, only our wedding bands.

We are still debating... I would love to get him something nice but I am also paying for 75% of the wedding... so we should be saving every penny we can now.

I think we will...even if its just a little something. We haven't talked about it, but I've been looking for things for him.

Re: TRUE or FALSE?
we didn't exchange gifts yesterday. we decided not to, that the wedding was present enough, and our rings. we will be treating ourselves to spa treatments while on HM.

I wonder if this HD TV tradition counts if the bride's not Jewish, but the groom is. I'll have to check with our rabbi on this one
