How does this work? Do you buy the dress on the spot? If they don’t have your size, do they order it – same price? Are they much cheaper? I assume the bridal store where the trunk sale is will do alterations? Are there many dresses at a trunk sale? Any advice?
My problem is there is a trunk sale for a designer in July. I have only gone dress shopping once, so I am not really ready to buy a dress yet because I feel I haven’t looked at enough dresses yet. Also, is it to early to buy? My wedding is 10/7/07. Don’t the styles change every year or season? Should I wait? When did you buy your dress?

Re: Trunk Sales?
Trunk sales are where the designer shows off their latest (and possible upcoming) dresses. Usually the shop offers a discount for those date on dresses by that designed. Occasionally you can buy the sample dress right there and then, but usually it's still ordered but you might have the chance to talk to the designer about what would be best for you. The shop will do the alterations when the dress comes in.
If you see something you love, then it's never too early, but be careful... we've had a few girls with buyers remorse since the designers usually have a fall and spring line... You still have the upcoming fall 06 and spring 07 lines to consider. I would try them on and keep track of what I liked. Then at a later date try them on again (or see if you even pick the same one again).
Since you're an October bride, you need at least 6 months to order (most shops recommend 8-12 months- ask your bridal shop about the specific designer/dress). I ordered my dress for this November in April and should have plenty of time.
