What happens at one of these? I just made an appointment at one.

Re: Trunk show

I ordered my dress at a trunk show.

Usually, the featured designer or a rep of the designer is there. They also usually have more of that designer's dresses than normal for you to try on. If you order one of the featured designer's dresses during the trunk show, you get a discount. You may also get the hollow to hem measurement included at no charge, so bring shoes that are the heel height that you intend to wear for the wedding.

When I ordered my dress, the designer (Matthew Christopher) was there. He agreed to change the neckline of my dress from strapless to a tank top with a v-neck.

Have fun!

Very cool!

I assume though that all of the gowns will be a bridal 10. No way my size 18 azz is fitting into those. Oh well, it'll be an experience!

Did you find there was more pressure to buy?

The gowns were the standard sample size.

I was not pressured to buy. Matthew was fantastic. At one point, he came to me and told me that he could tell I was getting overwhelmed and suggested that I go home for a bit and think things over. I went home, cleared my head, and went right back to the store to order my gown! DH thought I was nuts because it was 17 months before the wedding, but after I left the store, I realized I'd kick myself if I didn't order it.
