I have never been to one so bare with me. When there is a trunk show does that mean its kind of like a sample sale and you choose off of a rack and try on. Then buy that same gown or do they have a 'new' gown in the back somewhere. And must you buy on the spot? Curious cause I was thinking about going to the Demetrios trunk show.

Re: Trunk Show Question
Wanda: I'm 99% sure that a trunk show dress is the same as any other dress in the store. You try it on, if you like it they order you one, you don't get the sample. And you don't have to buy it right then and there. A trunk show just brings in new dresses to the bridal store that they probably would not have ordinarily because bridal stores can't buy every dress a designer makes. Hope this helps!

Re: Trunk Show Question
Also - if the designer is there, you can sometimes make modifications to a dress that you like (ex. sleeves, straps, etc). For example, my GF went to a trunk show (Marisa, I think) and the designer was there and helped my GF tailor a dress that was perfect for her.
P.S. - I have a Demetrios gown and I LOVE it!!
Good Luck!!!

Re: Trunk Show Question
You're welcome Wanda I just want to add that I think the dresses are only in the store while the trunk show is going on. Once it's over, the gowns are gone. When I went to Macy's Manhasset the designers were not there.
Good Luck and Have fun!!!

Re: Trunk Show Question
Theresa: Not all the dresses are advertised. Have you searched on the knot.com and weddingchannel.com. They have a search that you could use to look for dresses.

Re: Trunk Show Question
They sometimes offer discounts when you purchase a designer's gown from a trunk show.

Re: Trunk Show Question
Marcela is it overwhelming? I mean are there bridezillas everywhere? I don't want to step into something like a sample sale. Where its madness at every corner I turn.

Re: Trunk Show Question
Wanda: LMAO!!! Noooo, it was not like that at all. I went to the one in Manhasset (at around 12:30pm on Friday) and I was the only bride trying on dresses. There was a bride that was getting fitted, but she was in one of dressing rooms for a minute and was outside in the main room the rest of the time. I had all the dressing rooms to myself. So I would get into the dress in dressing room 1 and walk all the way down to dressing room 5 and look at myself in every dressing room mirror. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. Yes, I am psycho!!!

Re: Trunk Show Question
CW: It is possible to walk into a trunk show and not even know one is taking place. It is just a concentration of many dresses from a particular designer. If it's a Reem Acra show for example, they will have a ton of Reem designs hanging about, including all of the newest line and there will be a representative from the designer (or the designer her/himself) present. Other than that it is just an ordinary day at the store. It is a great way to check out dresses if you like a particular designer's work!
Edited to add: The first time I went to one I was actually expecting to see some type of show!

Re: Trunk Show Question
I might go on Valentine's Day. I am taking off to drop the eparty invites in the mail and also Presiden'ts Day I would like to go too. I might still go to Wedding Plaza b/c they have all the designers I am looking for. My mom does a really good job of telling me what looks good on me and what doesn't.

Re: Trunk Show Question
RK bridal was CRAZY when I went a few fridays ago. I went with my MOH to look at BM dresses and she saw the wedding dresses and wanted to me to try some on two but there were about 30 brides with their mothers standing around and many were shouting so we decided to call it a day and did not bother. But they had some beautiful dresses and many were very reasonable.
