Trying on Priscilla of Boston - Pics!!

Original post by DavaDay

So after trying on those dresses at Macy's and not finding the one for me, I headed over to Priscilla of Boston where I KNEW I wouldn't find the dress for me because they're out of my price range. I just wanted to get an idea of what the perfect dress for me might be, so I can scout out similar styles at prices I can afford (like, am I better in white or ivory? Strapless or non? Lace or something shiny? etc.).

So, I got what I wanted. I can't buy a POB dress, but I got to try on beautiful dresses - a few Melissa Sweets, a few POBs. I got my own fancy room with couches and a satin robe to slip into between dresses, and a lady to fuss over me like crazy. I was not allowed to take pics... but every now and then the lady would run out to get a veil or something for me to try. So I have a couple.

This was my favorite. Excuse the boob saggage - there was no bustier in there and my strapless bra wasn't doing the trick! Gorgeous, right? $4900.

But I loved being in it, and the lady got me a veil to wear with it. First a chapel-length veil - hello? My wedding is in a GARDEN in the afternoon - and then a pretty elbow-length veil that was perfect. I think this pic came out really cool:

Then I asked if they had any Watters gowns. I think Watters looks great on their web site and in magazines, and POB is supposed to carry the full line. Well, you should have seen how the lady's attitude changed when we were dealing with the Watters gowns (avg. $1200 or so). She was like a different person. So she told me they only had 2 in stock that would fit my wedding. One was ugly as all heck, and this one was pretty (sorry for the bad angle, but we had to sneak it really fast!):

So, I'd recommend POB if you can afford it. The dresses are just beautiful, and they treat you like a queen. However, I was disappointed because I do like Watters gowns and on the Watters website they tell you that POB stores are where you go to see the full collection, and this one only showed me 2 gowns. Whether that's because they truly didn't have them or because they wanted me to buy something more expensive, I don't know. Either way, I didn't get to try them on, which was a little disappointing.

Oh well. I'm going shopping again in Long Island on Friday - can't wait!

SHARON!!! Where have you been?? Can't wait to see you - just a few weeks till Lauren's shower, right?

Thanks, really, everyone for saying such nice things about my photos. It's really made me feel like whatever I end up picking, I'll look nice and it'll be fine. That really takes a lot of the pressure off., and it's a nice feeling. Thanks so much!

Dava those gowns are sooo pretty - love the second one - even from the side view it's very pretty!! sounds like you had a nice time with a private room and robe!!! Way to be treated like a princess!!! Dress shopping should be that way and be fun too - and not have salespeople go all snobby on you b/c you don't want to pay a certain amt for a dress!!

I don't know! Any suggestions?

I don't have any specific designers in mind, so I want to go places with a big selection. I've heard great things about Lillette's, so if I can get an appointment there for Friday, I'd like to go. I need one or two other places, though.

I know I keep saying this, but Bridal Reflections in Masapequa! Their dresses range from 1200 to 7k (not sure what your range is). Ask for Mary Lou.
