Trying really hard

Some of you may already know this....my brother committed suicide. It is going to be a year this April. It was the day of my engagement party. I am trying really hard to be happy that I am getting married.
Sometimes I am able to do it. Its my birthday Sunday. The last time I saw my brother was my birthday.
I am supposed to go out tonight for my birthday- I decided I wanted to go to a comedy club and I wanted My parents to go too...because they need to laugh. I just asked my Father and all he said was, 'I don't want to' It makes me feel like crap.
Sorry that I am venting. I feel like I don't have anywhere else to do it right now.

I am so sorry to hear about the tradegy of your brother. I cant imagine how difficult this time must be for you and your family. Grieving is a slow process and there is no book saying how one should go about grieving. But when anniversaries come around, times get especailly hard. Especaially when you are trying to celebrate your love. I hope that your family can help you get through this difficut time. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

your brother would want you to celebrate your birthday. have a cheers to him also. my mom just passed away and now she won't be at my wedding..it will be very hard but i know she would want me to be happy and that is what your brother wants..happy birthday and although it is easier said than done, enjoy it!!

Thank you, I am so sorry about you mom. So very sorry. She'll be there. Just like my brother will be at mine. They have to be.

i know they will be there for us!

I'm so sorry about your loss. Everyone deals with grief differently. Your father might just not feel ready yet. I think it's a good idea to go out maybe you can make a toast in his memory. Keep your head up and try to be positive. Happy Birthday to you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. As someone else stated, people grieve differently...maybe your father needs more time to come to terms with your brother being gone. Try to have a good time, your brother would want you to be happy, and yes, he will be with you on your wedding day!

My condolences to you and your family. Try to enjoy yourself. The best way to remember someone is to celebrate them. Laugh and your brother will laugh with you.

Wow, I am so sorry to hear about your brother.

I am sure he will be with you at the wedding and he wants you and your family to be happy.
