So the job that I have now pays ehhh alright nothing special..But last pay period I dont know what happened I was flat broke -literally i had ONE DOLLAR on friday!!! I had a twix bar for lunch-so bad I know!
I had my payment to the hall which tapped me out and then I had to fix my car. Now this week I get paid but I have to pay rent, car payment, PLUS the house phone bill....Ahh I hope I can pull this off. I wouldnt even care if I had only 40 bucks to last me but a dollar is baddd!!!
and another thing, before FH and I booked, we never fought about money...lately we've been down each others throats about saving!!!

im in the same boat. when i took the job i'm at now, i was getting paid like $300 less every 2 weeks. so i screwed up my savings. then i bought a new car, we got our apartment, and that was it. now i got a raise and its gettin gbetter. but i feel like im still paycheck to paychec and i freak about how we're going to pay for the wedding and everyday i'm yelling 'did you put money in the wedding account' and of course the answer is no
ahhhh!

Yeah i know!! its crazy I cant believe I was able to save more on wayy less money when i worked at my old job.
FH and I dont have a joint acct. we just split the bill on the RH every month. But I think we should just so maybe we can still seperate the wedding $ from regular money ya know?

Re: trying to figure out my budget...
thats how we are doing it right now. we split the rent half.. we alternate food shopping every week. he pays the phone bill. i pay cable. we seperatelly pay our car loans and car insurance and any other bill we have.
i recently told him we had to open a joint account JUST to put money away for the wedding. that alone was an issue with him. when we have the e-party hopefully we'll get some money to put in there lol
This weekend Steve and I worked out $$$$ plans we opened an account with ING direct for savings the percent rate is great 4.50% and they have an auto save plan they take money from checking and put it in your savings when you want them to. Check out the web site ING direct. If you (or anyone) are going to open and account FM first if I recommend someone they get $25 and I get $10 deposited into savings.

Some reg banks have better savings rates then ING direct... Its not that much of a diff but I'm getting 5.05% from hsbc... and I think citibank has a similar rate!

Yes, but its online only... What I do is put money into my checking & then go online and transfer it into my savings. I think you get a higher rate because the bank tellers dont deal with these accounts (eliminates the middle man ya know).. I bel;ieve thats how it works... I never tried going to the teller and havign them deposit to/withdraw from my savings acct

Re: trying to figure out my budget...
I feel your pain...Im living paycheck to paycheck and I keep freaking out about saving and being able to live at the same time. My landlords decided to be crackheads and told me they're raising the rent 100 bucks more a month so thats ANOTHER freak out, my car is dieing, Im on the verge of a break down BUT my ( I dont know the abrv. for it yet) Fiances parents told me I can move in with them so we can save money for our wedding and our future together....we started an ING account and every 500-1000 bucks we start a CD (seperate accounts but we can transfer money into eachothers)
Its tough, but you just have to step back and remember that everything will work out, maybe not right now, but it will.
