Trying to find a great place!!!

Original post by KellymKuehn

My Fiance and I got engaged in 2006 and were planning on Having our wedding September 21, 2008 at Majestic Gardens. We broke up last year and cancelled the wedding. We have been back together for a year and just got engaged the other day. We already lost the deposit on Majestic Gardens because no one has booked our date and now I can't find a place that I like!

Last time I was pressured into having the kind of wedding I didn't want. This time I want to do it the right way. I don't want a catering hall. I want a cottage, inn, garden, or something along those lines. I am having so much trouble finding something that isn't a million dollars per person!

I just want to get married in a beautiful garden and have indoor/outdoor capabilities. I am willing to go outside of LI into northern NY or into connecticut.

Please Help!!!

I think I looked at the Meadow Club last time. The price was right but the outside was VERY small and not really very much like a garden. But the inside was nice. I have a friend getting married there next May because the price is def good. Thanks!

Online the Thatched Cottage looks great. I just hope the price is right. I heard the food is good too! I left a message and called 2 times yesterday and no one called back- I hate that! I mean come on don't they know I am the most important person they need to talk to! Same thing with Miller Place Inn- they never answered or called back either- How dare they...

I am going to start a new post asking for quotes on Thatched cottage, Timberpoint, and Miller Place Inn.

Another place to look into is East WInd Country Gardens. I know I am bias because I was married there, but it beautiful. It is very quaint and personal. The food is great!!! I am not sure where you are located, but if you were looking at Majestic, East wind isn't that far away. GL & Congrats!!!

How much is East Wind though? It looks so beautiful I can't imagine it being in my price range.

Westbury Manor! It is a catering hall, but with a more 'country' type of feel And their menu is great!

DEFINITELY look at the Riviera in Massapequa. The Website does NOT do it justice. It is the perfect place for that many people. The grounds, the hall (more like a house), is just beautiful. I didn't book there because I wasn't a fan of the food at the tasting, but I've heard other people rave about it. Also, the owner seemed like a creep, but the ladies who work there are wonderful, especially Vicky. Just absolutely beautiful, and part of me still wishes I booked there.

We were actually very close to booking there when we were engaged last time. Then we went to Majestic Gardens and I fell in love. With that said I have friends that got married at the Riviera since then. I have heard that the waitstaff is a bunch of teenagers who sit around and talk to eachother all night instead of serving food and that the food is only so-so. It is BEAUTIFUL though- I love that the bridal sweet overlooks the dance floor.

We paid 100PP for our 2007 Sept. wedding. Always negoiate. they will come down in some way. Country Gardens is the least expensive of the 3 there. I would look into them!! GL!

I hate when places won't do pricing over the phone!

Thatched cottage when I checked them in 2006 did same thing. I wanted to go that day or next to check. please give me ballpark $$ so I don't waste your time or mine. tried twice. no return call. Then 2 weeks later they called like 5 times - - different people. thanks but no thanks if that's how you operate.

No one has suggested Larkfield manor to you . we had reception there and it was perfect. people are wonderful, oodles of food - - all phenomenal and a pretty place too. 2 rooms but in different wings and they separate times so each wedding should be private. we were only event on our day so I can't confirm that. but check their prices. they were very reasonable for us and the grounds are pretty. small pond w fountain and gazebo . . pics in album.
