My Fiance and I got engaged in 2006 and were planning on Having our wedding September 21, 2008 at Majestic Gardens. We broke up last year and cancelled the wedding. We have been back together for a year and just got engaged the other day. We already lost the deposit on Majestic Gardens because no one has booked our date and now I can't find a place that I like!
Last time I was pressured into having the kind of wedding I didn't want. This time I want to do it the right way. I don't want a catering hall. I want a cottage, inn, garden, or something along those lines. I am having so much trouble finding something that isn't a million dollars per person!
I just want to get married in a beautiful garden and have indoor/outdoor capabilities. I am willing to go outside of LI into northern NY or into connecticut.
Please Help!!!

Definitely check out the Swan Club- gardens are amazing and its not your typical catering hall. Good luck!!

We're getting married at the Riverview Restaurant in Oakdale. No gardens, but it's right on the water with amazing views.

Thatched Cottage is a quaint cottage/inn with beautiful gardens! Give them a look!

We loved The Thatched Cottage! They just did over the cocktail hour room....it's absolutely beautiful. Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but it's definitely worth checking out.
Good Luck!

You should def look into the Thatched Cottage it sounds like what your looking for. The Riviera in Massapequa is somewhat cottage like as well however its on the water and doesnt have gardens but its a quent little place. I loved Majestic Gardens but its further then I wanted to travel. Why dont you consider it again? They have beautiful gardens.

Good question : ) If you are having 130 people or less, then look into DeSeversky Center (old Dupont family summer mansion). One wedding at a time, beautiful grounds, and more of an antique (old world) feeling. You can look at my DeSeversky album for photos.
try milleridge cottage, royalton, New Hyde Park Inn

Check out the Lessing's website. They have pretty locations all over LI. If you don't mind travelling out to Suffolk County, the Three Village Inn is nice.

I feel like Majestic Gardens is an Omen. I can't bring myself to still have the wedding there. It is pretty but I want something different.
I will def look at the Thatched cottage though thanks!

I absolutely love my RH
I was going to suggest the same. I only had my ceremony there and would have loved to have the reception there if I hadn't already given JT quite a bit of $$ before I found DeSeversky. Definitely try them out!! Feel free to look at my albums for pics of the grounds

Re: Trying to find a great place!!!
DeSeversky Center looks gorgeous but it is too expensive... I am looking into Thatched Cottage- I am waiting for a call back. Hopefully I can afford them!
I also spoke to the Swan Club and while they have beautiful grounds, very reasonable prices, and I hear nothing but great reviews...I don't like that they have 3 events at a time.
I am having 100-130 people.
Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions- I really appreciate it.
I want this engagement and wedding planning to go much more smoothly than last time!!!!

If you're willing to go to NJ you could try to Park Savoy
You should definetly check out Miller Place Inn - its of course in miller place and SOOOOOOOo pretty- my best friend got married there last summer and it was so fun- the owner is so nice, the outdoor garden w/ gazebo was perfect for her ceremony and the price is reasonable.... check it out
