trying to lift my spirits

trying to lift my spirits

My mom and dad are coming up for a visit tomorrow to try and cheer me up (found out I need to wait till end of Aug to see if the school budget works out for me to be hired).

Mom and I are going to 2 salons to try on dresses to cheer me up and get me in that wedding mood-
I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt and going cause maybe shes right and I'm not into planning cause it doesnt seem real yet.
Maybe we will actually have a mom/daugh. moment for once in our lives.

When did you have your 'OMG I'm getting married!!!!!' moment????

I dont know if I have had that moment yet! Maybe when we put the deposite down on the hall, but I think it was more a feeling of OMG we are spending HOW MUCH!

Anyway, enjoy dress shopping, it is a lot of fun, and I hope you have a great time with your mom!

I wish you all the best with getting re-hired.
Have fun dress shopping!!
I don't think I've had one huge OMG moment, just lots of little ones! One of them was just recently when I ordered our Save-the-Dates. Seeing our wedding day in print made it seem more real.

It was probably when I found the perfect wedding gown. I just stood there starting at myself in the mirror in disbelief. I was like, hey, this is really happening.

You know what I went through the same thing. At first I was like whatever. I was kind of in shock because I had no idea we were getting engaged. Then when we went looking at places it really set in, but the moment I was like OMG was when I signed the reception contract. Have a great time looking at dresses.

Yeah, I think that was it for me too. I love my gown and I cried when I put it on. When I tried on others, I slipped them on, zipped it up and ran out to show my entourage. When I put mine on, I just stood there - staring at myself. They were yelling 'what's taking you so long?'

I have had two wedding related sleepless nights, so far. The day I got engaged and the day I bought my gown.

I understand the feeling of just not being excited I've been going through the same thing right after we got engaged my fh got laid-off from work that was back in march we have finally set the date and got the hall and I have my dress but we still have other stresses that are putting a damper on our wedding planning he's gonna start working as a truck driver soon for a company where he will be gone training for 1 month and then when he starts on the raod he will be gone 5 days home 2 he need's to do this for 1 yr before he will beable to find a truck driving job on Long Island that pays good. so I'm very down about the whole thing and it's hard when my mom is all excited about planning things and dress shopping and I'm not.My sister is my MH and thank god she understands so she is the buffer between my mother and I telling my mom pretty much to back off for a little bit.

Re: trying to lift my spirits

I had my first moment, the first time I went BM dress shopping with my girlfriends. They stood me in the middle of the wedding dress section and I got so overwhelmed that I had to go outside for some air. Not because I had a bad feeling. Just because it hit me, OMG! I am going to be his wife!' Ever since then, I have been ok.
