Trying to lose weight

I am having the hardest time trying to stay motivated and lose weight for the wedding. I have been doing the treadmill for the past 5 nights, but the scale is not moving!!!! I have this 'number' in my head that I want to be on my wedding day and I will be so upset if I dont get there.. only 2 months to go...

It will happen! Stay motivated! Maybe a small change in diet? or add some weight to your routine?

Here's a few tips -

- If you've really upped your workouts this week, your muscles are probably retaining water in order to keep themselves well...which means the number on the scale most likely won't go down yet. Be patient!

- Sure, maybe the number on the scale hasn't budged, but are your clothes fitting a little better? Probably. Your face probably looks a little slimmer too.

- Don't look at the scale everyday. Once a week, same time each week is best. You weigh more at night than in the morning, natually, since you eat food all day.

- Are you eating salty/high sodium foods? A lot of canned and frozen stuff is high in sodium. Drink a lot of water...even if you're not necessarily consuming a lot of processed foods, it never hurts to drink a lot of water!

- Also, set a realistic goals...in regard to your weight, your exercise routine and your food intake. Remember that just because it's the holiday season doesn't mean that you need to go overboard on food just because it's there (ie., office parties, gift baskets)...it's called a holiDAY, not a holiWEEK or holiMONTH.

Good luck! I lost 20 pounds on Weight Watchers and have maintained it for over a year, so I know what kind of a stuggle it can be at times.

Are you doing intervals on the treadmill or just straight running?

Are you changing your eating habits at all? If not, then I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you won't lose weight just by exercising. You need to change your eating habits too.

Too much cardio tend to burn out muscle mass...Cardio atleast twice a week is good enough. Try light weightlifting, and focus on different body parts every day. Eat evry 2-3 hours and No carbs at night time... and you will see a change. Just give it some time and do not give up!!.

Re: Trying to lose weight

I decided the other day (Tuesday) that I want to lose 17 lbs. I've lost two already so 15 to go! For me a lot of it is not eating junk but...

I was speaking to a trainer at the gym and he told me to do 15 minutes of stairmaster before I do cardio and do it twice daily instead of one longer workout. I ran into the GM at the gym I go to yesterday and I mentioned it to him and he said I'd definitely see results if I did that. He added though that if you are doing resistance training after cardio, to do another 15 minutes afterwards.

I highly recommend Jenny Craig I have tried every diet under the sun...and they all failed for one reason or another. I started Jenny Craig in May and have lost around 32 lbs. And it wasnt very hard!!!

Have you tried changing your diet? When I first decided I wanted to lose weight, I went to the gym about 5x a week. I only lost 13 lbs in 4 months.

Once I started weight watchers, I saw the weight coming off much quicker!

So true...it's ALL about the eating. Which I do a lot of.

I agree with the ladies, it's very much in the diet. When I joined WW I began losing weight maybe the day after, it's really a great program. Maybe you can go to the weekly meetings for 12 bucks until your wedding

Agreed. It's 15% exercise and 85% food. What about trying weight watchers? so far ive lost 33 lbs in 3 and a half months. hoping to lose 38 by the 4 month mark.

Stay motivated, take some B-12, switch up your exercises, reduce your carbs and you'll get there!
