Trying to Make Appointments for Dress Shopping .....Update

Original post by nylisa

I called a local dress shop about making an appointment. When I called them and told them that I was getting married Sept. 2004, they said that I should really not come on a Sat. because I am taking up 'bridal space' since I have time to look for a dress. They said maybe I should come on a Friday (they close at 6 p.m.) or a Sun. I work how can I come on a Friday. They wanted to know if I wanted to look or order. I said that if I find a dress that I like, I am going to order it. So I make the appointment for a Sunday. After I hang up with them, I said to myself that I had to be crazy to give the business to someone who did not want me to come in the first place. So I called them back and cancelled the appointment. I hope I made sense. I am just so ****ed off!

I've bought 2 BM gowns from them and 2 of my friends bought their wedding gowns from her...they are the sweetest people in there...I went there first. If my FMIL wasn't making my gown I would DEFINITELY buy my gown there....and alterations have always been free...

One of my friends who got her gown there (traveled from the Bronx, btw) had to completely change the top of the dress from spaghetti straps to off the shoulder w/ 3/4 sleeves....they did a beautiful job!

I just spoke to them. They have the dress that I love and it is a great price. I told my mom that is where I want to go. I do not want to go any place else. They sound wonderful on the phone.

What is wrong with these stores??? You would think they would be helpful and nice so that you'll go back and purchase when you're ready!

I went to a store on Wednesday and tried on dresses. I found a dress I loved but they only had it in ivory w/pink embr. so I ask if it was available in white w/pink embr. she said she had to go look it up we had to ask her twice to do it! She told us that it was not available in the white and pink just white on white and she refused to give us the brand name and then wouldn't give us a price just told us 'it was under a thousand and the third piece is additional'
Then I went a website found it was a Bridal Original, they had the white and pink and it was $475 for all three pieces It's sounds too low for the dress but I'll keep looking

I will not be returning to that store!!!!! I do not like being taken advantage of! They just lost a bride, 4 BM and 2 mothers

Miss Linda: That's nuts!! What's up with stores not wanting to tell you who the designer is? I haven't encountered that yet, but if I do, I'm going to remind them that it is ILLEGAL to do that
You should call RK and see what price they give you. I'm still looking for dresses, so can you please FM me the name of the store, so I know not to waste my time with them. Thanks!

URGH! I can not stand some of these dress stores! It shows that all the dresses are just arbitrarily priced with no real reason behind it! Bridal Suite of Huntington wouldn't tell me the name, they claimed it was coded?!? Bridal Reflections of Massapequa wouldn't tell me, Adriennes wouldn't tell me, and their are a few others. I made note of posts like the one in Cold spring harbor, etc. to make sure I didn't waste my time.

Has anyone gone to Fantasia Bridal in Pocky Point? I spoke to them last night at the bridal show at East Wind and they seemed very nice. I don't even need an appoinetment to try on dresses. They seem to have good prices on bridal gowns, but the MOTB/MOTG dress prices were CRAZY! They wanted about $700 for some of them! My mom was there with us and she looked at me like, 'WOW...that's what you're going to be paying (atleast!) for your dress!!' She's also my MOH so we should find things in better prices. WHY would the MOTB/MOTG dresses be SO expensive!?!?

Also, it's rediculous that they don't tell you the name. I plan on my mom writing down all the info as I like the dresses. It should say on the tag shouldn't it??

I ordered my dress from Fantasia and all of the labels are on the dresses and the style number on the tags. They don't really hide much of anything. I really like them. However, they do get a little busy onthe weekend so have some patience. I worked with Stephanie and she was great.

That place Bridal Couture of Manhasset asked me when I went in if i was ready to buy something. I said i dont know it depends and they said they didnt have someone who could help me. I was shocked...I tried on dresses privately with my MB's....had tons of fun...then left! They were so rude!

They are wonderful. For those that did not see it. Here is me trying on my gown (remember that it is a sample size and it does not fit me).
