Trying to Make Appointments for Dress Shopping .....Update

I called a local dress shop about making an appointment. When I called them and told them that I was getting married Sept. 2004, they said that I should really not come on a Sat. because I am taking up 'bridal space' since I have time to look for a dress. They said maybe I should come on a Friday (they close at 6 p.m.) or a Sun. I work how can I come on a Friday. They wanted to know if I wanted to look or order. I said that if I find a dress that I like, I am going to order it. So I make the appointment for a Sunday. After I hang up with them, I said to myself that I had to be crazy to give the business to someone who did not want me to come in the first place. So I called them back and cancelled the appointment. I hope I made sense. I am just so ****ed off!

What place was that!???! OMG! I first went looking in SEPTEMBER for my wedding in June...yes, I just could not wait to put on a wedding gown...and no one gave me a hard time! Money is money! There are so many other places you can go...I would go there and try on every dress in the store and then leave just b/c they are jerks!

I definately think you made the right decision. If you want to look, you should be able to look whenever you are comfortable. I think they are crazy to have blown you off like that. Think of it this way, if they arent going to give you attention now, they may not give you the attention you deserve later. Better off going somewhere else where the people are more polite.

good call on canceling the appointment. i would be so mad if they did that to me. the shop i am going to on Feb 22 was really cool. they didnt ask when i am getting married, all they asked was how many people are you bringing so we can accomadate for everyone. I said it will be 4 ppl plus me which makes 5. she said ok see you then. i told her i have a dress i am in love with and that they carry it. she said no problem whats the dress number so we can make sure to have a sample for you and that we will have many others for you to look at.

the place was really nice.

i cant believe someone would say something like that. some places are so snobby.

What??? WHo do they think they are When I called Macy's to make an appt. they did not ask me when I was getting married either. WHat place was this? CAn you please FM me?

HOW OBNOXIOUS! I am one of the last of us 04' brides to be getting married & the ladies @ MACY'S were so encouraging me to order it--saying that dresses get discontinued a lot and if find one why not?! They take almost 10 months to come in!! You definetley were wise in cancelling that appt. i would recommend MACYS bridal salon in Smith Haven Mall they were GREEAT!!

Check out Beautiful Bride on Merrick Road.... They were so nice, and bought my gown in May 2002, they knew I was looking for February 2004...they didn't care. And they let me visit her whenever I want to, they take it out of storage and let me stare at her so I don't forget what she looks like. Prices were better than reasonable AND you can pretty much bargain with them...

What store were you looking in? Kleinfelds?

I was not looking in Kleinfelds. It was a local dress shop.

I just called another shop and they were so nice. I made an appointment for March 29th to go there and look at dresses. They said that since I knew a few dresses that I was interested in, to fax them the pictures and they will try to make sure that they have it when I come on March 29th. I knew that I would find a store that I liked.

I am going Feb 22. i have 2 appointments that day.

ahhhh i cant wait....its in 2 weeks. i am so excited, nervous, jittery, ahhhh....i cant wait to go and try on dresses

I can not wait. The shop also told me that they are having specials. Here are the specials:
If I order my giwn and it is over $1000, I get a free slip, free headpiece, free veil and free alternations. If my BMs order their dress there (it does not matter how much the dress is), they get 10% off and free alternations.
