.. but we are under 25 years old and no one will rent to us. Well we actually found one place that will but for an extra $250 (for one week) HELP!

I went through my travel agent and we rented a car no problem - the car is undder FH's name and he will still be 21 during the HM

We don't have a travel agent!!!!!! Do you know the name of the rental company they use? We will be 24 1/2 and 23 1/2.....

When I was under 25, I used my corporate discount to reserve the car bc the fee was automatically waived. They allowed us to use the discount for personal use.

My compnay has nothing I work for a poor start up company! Maybe I will have my FH check with his company.

I work for a start up now also. I miss some of the perks of corporate, like heat in the winter or reinforced walls and windows so you don't hear the elevated trains every 5 min.

Did you try Avis or Budget? When I lived in NJ I used to rent from Enterprise all the time..I think I hit on the man to get the fee waived. I rented from Budget when I was 22, no fee.

When I went to Hawaii (*gulp*) over 4 years ago.... I was under 25, we went thru Alamo at the time, they only had a surcharge of $20/day, they usually run promotions for a 5th day free so that would cancel out your surcharge. Have you tried them?
Edited to state that me and friend went there to celebrate my 25th birthday, I was literally a week away from being 25 and they still would not budge with that d*mn surcharge.

Budget used to rent to under 25ers, but can't anymore (I work for their parent company).

Not very many companies will actually rent to the 'underaged' (their term, not mine ).
I would try to find some sort of coupons for Alamo.
As far as Kauai, I have never been to that island. I was only on Oahu. Why not call your hotel and see what they recommend. If the hotel has some sort of concierge service, they might be able to make the necessary arrangements for you and get that fee waived.
