Do any of you think there are people on here (and I mean real brides) that make up stories of things that are going on in their lives or with their weddings just go get attention or have something to say?
My reason for asking is because before I signed up in 2004, a bride was posting all these RIDICULOUS stories. I mean it was pure nonsense and lies. For example, one was a response to a post about cheating. She said that her MOH's sister's FH cheated and she ended up with an STD. How do I know that's a lie? Because she had 2 MOH's and I was the only one with a sister and my sister was NOT engaged!

I think there are plenty of people on this site and in everyday life who make stuff up for attention. Not only that but OVER dramatiz much of their everyday existance to draw people closer to them.

I sometimes wonder if people on here are real brides or they just come on to cause trouble or just pretend. The world is filled with cou cou's, I can just imagine what goes on on public forums.

My MOH (who's also my SIL) really wants to be a part of LIW, but since she's already married (in 2002) she doesn't want to pretend to be a bride just to be on the boards...I keep telling her that she wouldn't be pretending as long as she's up front about not being a bride (like debismom always writes 'Mary MOB'), but she still sees it as lying.
I can only imagine that there are people with a lot less scrutiny who are posing and posting.

It's perfectly fine to join when you're not a bride. I did it when I was an MOH.

I say to each his own ...I know people who do it and catch them at it often ...dosent mean I love them less just means I know not to believe everything .........me personally it dosent make any sense ...with the year I have had I would personally take a nice 'boring' life !!!!!!!

I never really thought about it, til now...I guess there are people who make up stories, and maybe there are people who dont, and people can think that they are lying when they are not.

I'm sure there are people here who make stuff up -- maybe people who are jealous and wish they were engaged. I used to read a law school message board back when I was applying (I found it when I was googling to find people discussing the LSAT after I had just taken it) and people lied on that site all the time about their gpa/scores and schools they were admitted to.
i think it just comes with the internet...

Besides being pathetic, I wonder where they find the time to sit here and type lies especially having to plan for a wedding, I constantly find there aren't enough hours in a day to get everything done that I need

Well everyone knows what happened with me and FH...I disappeared for a little while and I came back because I really enjoyed being on the website and the friendships I had made. Things are fine now. But for a while I was just on here again to chat and give advice when I could.

I honestly feel unless you personally know someone and their situation you dont really know if its the truth and that it would be awful if the assumption was that it was made up or blown out of proportion and it turned out it wasnt at all and that person was being judged

Im SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURE people lie on here....its a bunch of girls...I'm sure some people have that 'Mee TOOOO' attitude or 'My wedding will be better than yours' so they make things up.....
Some people are just sick in the head too....like that Karen girl withthe multiple personality disorder

Yea I didn't post anything about it cause it was super complicated and I was a little embarassed about the whole thing. When I came back I just kinda popped in not knowing if people would notice or not.
