Are there any pet stores near you that have reptiles / exotic pets? You make take him there to learn more about him and what he needs.

Otherwise, I'd find a vet who specializes in reptiles to ask him / her.

I wish I could help. He is a cutie -- how could someone paint his shell?!?!

It is a tortoise although I am not sure what sub species.

I would suggest you call Doug at DNJ reptiles in seaford.

I used to raise monitors and rehab them.. Tell him Nikki with all the tattoos told you to call and that Doug would be the right guy.

Trust me he is the man to call!!!!

That is so upsetting! He looks like my turtle, Elmer. Elmer is a land turtle and I feed him turtle pellets and crickets. Dennis from the Pet Den, on Jericho Tpk in Commack has always been very helpful with my turtle. He knows alot! Good luck.

thank you girls so much .. thanks to nifheim and a pet store we found out its a Russian Tortoise. I think it might be too much work to take care of (FH and my family might kill me if i do considering i have 2 dogs a water turtle and a rabbit )

so tomorrow we are going to try and decide what we want to do with it. Right now hes just chilling in my room in a long bin and Casper my dog is 'babysitting' hehe
