Our wedding venue is very laid back with an elegant feel. Originally I thought that tuxes would be great, but now I'm thinking that maybe it would be too formal? (See venue pics in my album)
We're having an evening wedding, so it should be more dressy than a daytime wedding (??I dont know if thats true - but thats what I've been told)...but again, based on our RH, I don't know if that would look out of place.
Here is a suit and a tux that I LOVE. But not even basing the decision these examples....just tuxes and suits in general, which should we do? FH doesn't care either way...

i told steve to get a nice suit lol but he wants tux........with a bow tie and tails...lol but i hope he was kidding about that.........

ok ok ..so i looked at ur RH and i do think the suit may be better
haha
side note: my coworker went to the premiere of michael clayton and was totally rubbin in my face that he got to see george.
haha i would love to go to a premiere and chill with george clooney. fh would totally approve.

i voted suit... our venues a little more laid back too, but mine's a day wedding - I think FH and GMs should just wear nice suits but honestly it's up to him, I don't really care. A black suit is perfect i think... My 4 nephews are also in it [ages 3 - 12] and i think they will all wear black suits anyway.

Do all groomsmen need to buy/rent the SAME suit? Or can we just tell groomsmen to wear a black suit (and we'll get them the tie)? Would that look sloppy?

i have this same question, though i sort of assumed they would all buy/own nice black suits - a black suit always comes in handy. can you wear a vest also with a suit?

I asked this ?? at the Tux place where we're getting the guys' suits.
The difference is:
Tux - the lapel is satin & the buttons are usually covered in satin as well. The pocket is also always lined in satin as well.
Suit - all basically lined - no flash or sparkle.
Personally - we're doing suits. The groomsmen will be in black on black with silver & white long ties. FH will be in black pinstriped suite with a white shirt & his Steelers Superbowl tie.

Jenn - is that how it works? You have the guys all buy a particular suit? Argh! So confused.
Maybe Heather is right though (Mimacat)....since everyone is going to be in a suit already...the GM and FH will stand out more...?

i am having the same issues. i LOVE how there are sooo many choices for suits, and how you can accessorize the tie to match shirt and suit
id LOVE to have the suit but I dont know that I can talk FH into it
