TUX Q and off white dresses

I stopped in Men's Warehouse hand they told me that my FH has to wear an off white vest, shirt and tie...since my dress is off white...

WHat is everyone FH tux going to look like?

Re: TUX Q and off white dresses

I JUST went through this...

I thought we could get away with white even though I am not a big fan of stark white. We were originally going to buy the shirt and accessories for the guys (we got the tuxes for them at a great price through FH's father) but the selection is so poor if you want to buy. Renting is another story, you can get anything and everything...

So we are renting the shirts, vests and ties. I took a swatch of my off-white dress and had FH try both shirts on. The ivory was definitely better, the white looked awful.

Attached are some pics. Check out the white vest on the left hand side of the second pic to see the comparison... The shirt in the first pic is white, and the swatch draped over him is the material of my dress...

Re: TUX Q and off white dresses

I am a strong beleiver of the FH to match the B2B dress color shirt wise.

The first pic is me with my FIL..he is wearing a white shirt.

The 2nd is me & Dh and we are both in ivory.

My dress is lightest ivory and is close to white but for true ivory dresses the difference is way more noticible.

Re: TUX Q and off white dresses

My son was just married on July 4th and my DIL's gown was off white with champagne. My son wore a white tux with the champagne vest and tie.

I have their pictures posted on here under my wedding, albums. check it out. It might just help you out.

Re: TUX Q and off white dresses

We just did the tux thing this weekend and here's what we decided on: * keep in mind FH wanted to look like he was 'walking the red carpet' (a classy, but trendy kind of look)
FH is going to wear a 3 button tux with a black high vest (with a black on black pattern for texture), black tie and an off white shirt. Some of the ivory shirts look too yellow, so be careful of that.
BM and GM are wearing the same 3 button tux with high cranberry vests (to match the BM dresses), black ties, and off white shirts
We're going to put out dad's in traditional black tuxes with cummerbunds and bow ties and I don't care so much if they wear white or ivory ties, as long as they're the same.

Re: TUX Q and off white dresses

My FIL and dad wore white shirts with the silver.

DH wore ivory. If you look at this pic of us alltogether. you can see that FIL shirt comes out alot brighter than his wife's off white dress or anybody else for that matter.

And me with my dad, his shirt pics up more brighter than my dress. It is only slight but if you FH or the GM take off thier jackets and are next to you in white shirts..it shows up alot worse.

annaae thank you for your kind words

Mya~
I went to the Men's Warehouse the other day and they said that having:
my fh in off white and my GM in white/siver would look horrible in pics!

Re: TUX Q and off white dresses

I think that if the dress is a true ivory..more of a cream that is where the contrast shows the greatest. But after looking at our pics I dont see a tremendous difference.

However I did see a pic on the internet where the groom had on a white suit and his bride was in ivory and all I can say is..I hope she doesnt show those pics to anybody.

I will try to find it.

you can't tell at all in your pics...

i am hoping our shirts are not yellowish, they didn't look like it in the store, but they do in the picture i posted above (so does the swatch of my dress ) - i am hoping that is because the lighting in the store and no flash on my camera...

i think it's definitely a good idea to take a swatch in to see the comparison in person...

I told my FI that I didnt care what tux he got but I am wearing ivory and he cannot clash with me, so no white. He had no problem with this.

Re: TUX Q and off white dresses

i had ivory and brought a swatch with me when dh and fil looked at tuxes. the woman at the store advised them to get white based on my swatch (i was told it was a lighter ivory). so we looked at the ivory shirts to make sure and she was right it would have looked awful. now this store just may not have had light ivory shirts. anyway it looked fine. all the men wore white with silver vests.

however, my best friend got married last week and her dress was ivory too. all the guys wore light ivory shirts and it looked great (obviously she had a light ivory dress also). so all in all, if we weren't strapped for time we probably would have looked at another place to see if they carried light ivory. but i can't complain about the white at all.
