Tux question- did your father's match the BP or your mom?

I have a father tux question. As of now, I have my fathers and my usher wearing a different color vest than the BP- but, when he went to try it on the guy there told him that his vest is supposed to match my mother's dress? I thought this sounded kinda 'prom' so I wanted to get the truth from the ladies!

he wore a slightly lighter shade than the rest of the bridal party - so he matched with them. But the color also coordinated with my mother's dress

My father is matching my mom. I don't want him to look like part of the BP.

My dad wore a black vest. My GM had champagne vests, my BM had champagne dresses - we didn't have my dad match my mom, due to she had a champagne dress as well.

i've been trying to figure this out myself! my bp is in light silver and my mom is wearing powder bllue. i can't imagine putting my dad in anything powder blue! i was thinking that i may just put him in a darker silver than the bridal party. but then we will be a million colors (grandma's in purple!)

Our GM's wore a dark gray, DH wore a light silver (all with regular ties and vests) Our dads wore black vests and black bowties.

The father's had a black tuxedo with a black bow and black vest. The GMs wore dark gray. It looked really good.

I don't care what ANYONE says - My father can wear hot pink if he feels like it !! - I'm really not concerned w/ him 'matching' anyone. - But as far as the vest matching your mom........if she's wearing red or blue or a 'color' then I think you're right, it will def look Prom-ish !!

Our fathers do not the BP. We gave them black vests to match the mothers.

my dad matched my mom but he was still in the same color family as the guys just a different pattern I think.

We went yesterday to pick out the tuxes. The bridal party is in purple vest and tie and the fathers are in a charcoal/platinium vest and tie. My mom got a navy blue dress and his mom was suppossed to to, but hasnt started looking yet so this way the fathers are in a color that will go with whatever she gets. Teh grandfathers are just wearing a black comberbun and tie

Everyone in my wedding party party was coordinated. But I also considered how the dads would look next to the moms becasue they do get to take pictures away from the wedding party and it is a pet peeve to see people clash in pics so maybe something that is flattering all around.

my stepfather matched my moms dress and my fil matched my mils dress

The bridal party are wearing navy vests and ties and my father is wearing a black vest and tie. I thought if he wore navy he might look like part of the bridal party.

At my sister's wedding, my dad's vest was made out of the extra material from my mom's dress. My mom's dress was in the same color family as the bridesmaids, but definitely not the same.

I plan for my father's tux to match my bridal party tuxes. However, my dad's boutonierre will be very similar to my mom's corsage and bigger than the rest of the bridal party bouts.

Our tuxedo guy told us that too. Actually, he said the fathers could be same color, different style or pattern than guys, or in color to match moms. My Stepdad got platinum like our GM (just different pattern vest, and tie instead of bowtie), FFIL got black, and my dad got black. They just aren't supposed to match the BP exactly is the point, I think.

i think we're going to have the BP in gray vests, and the fathers in black. but my dress is ivory so i don't know how an ivory shirt would look w/ a gray vest

my father and FIL both had their own tuxes that they wore. I think they both had black cumberbunds. our gm had charcoal gray vests. i don't think the dads need to match anyone, but if anything i would say they should match their wives
