Tux Question/ FYI for Men's Wearhouse Users...
Does anyone know of a place on LI to buy an inexpensive vest/tie set for a tux?
This may be useful information for others as well. My dad, my FH, and one of the GM all own their own tuxes. When we set up our party with Men's Wearhouse a few months ago they said it would be no problem for them to rent just the tie/vest set. My FH has done this for black tie weddings before, so we figured it would be ok.
My dad went to order his vest a few nights ago and they said they implemented a new policy three weeks ago that allows them to only rent out full ensembles. Since my FH already paid for his rental, they're still giving him just the vest and tie, but my dad and the one GM who hasn't ordered his stuff and who doesn't need the full set are out of luck. As a result, we've decided it's ok if my dad doesn't match the others so he'll use his own vest, and my FH is going to give his rented vest to the GM who hasn't ordered and needs to match the others, but now we need to *quickly* find a new set for the groom, but we don't want to pay an arm and a leg for it. We also don't live on LI at the moment and have been planning this from Indiana (a state in which, from what I can tell, Men's Wearhouse is the only place that deals in tuxes and the closest one is 45 minutes away - gosh I can't wait until grad school is over and we can leave this corn field!); the last time I had to do something with a tux was 8 years ago for prom, so I'm not sure where the best places on LI are anymore.
I realize all of this could've been easier if a certain GM had moved a little quicker in ordering everything - we do afterall have less than 3 weeks to go! - but there's not much we can do about it now.
