Tuxedo Colors

Does the groom have to wear a white vest? All the stores keep saying that, but I think Nick wouldn't look good in that much white.
Also, I can't find a color for the groomsmen that match the bridesmaids dresses (Alfred Angelo Blue Jay) what alternate color would be appropriate?
I'm thinking groom in a light silver and groomsmen in a darker gray. Is that too close?
I don't know why this has me so stressed.

My DH wore a black vest. He didn't want to wear a white one. He had a black tux with a black vest and no tie with a white shirt; he looked so handsome!! I have pics in my album if you want to see.

It's his day too, he should feel comfortable in what he's wearing. Don't listen to the tux shop, they're not the ones you're marrying!!
