Are the dads supposed to wear the same tuxedos as the groomsmen or are their colors in their vest and ties supposed to be different?

I think they can wear whichever they want. If they want to match, they can but if they prefer a different tux, I think that would be okay too.
I do think that they should wear a different color and not the same as the GM though, but they can wear the same style, if I'm making any sense.

The GMs wore silver/grey vests and ties, and our fathers wore charcoal grey vests and ties.

My Father is wearing different Tux, but my cousin and sister did it where they were all the same just different color. It whatever you like best!!
My dad is wearing a bow tie, button jacket.. my FH & GM are wearing something more modern.. no button jacket, tie.

I am having my father where a platinum vest and my FH's father will wear a black vest. They will pick out any tux that they want.

My father is wearing a completely different tux as he wants to be different
FFIL will be wearing the same tux but a black vest & a bow tie
GM wearing wine & black vests with wine ties

We're going to pick out tuxs this week but we plan on doing similar tuxs just the dad's will have either black or charchol or some variation of the colors. Both dads will be wearing the same tuxs though

I think its ok either way, its more whatever they prefer. My FH is wearing a tie with his tux and the dads are wearing bowties.

They don't have to match. I'd say it's up to them really. My FFIL wants to wear a bow-tie and my dad is so not into that idea. So I don't care what they wear. In fact, my dad said he was thinking of wearing a black denim tuxedo he saw in Stuff magazine (he wore a denim suit to his own hippy wedding 33 years ago). I think he's kidding, but as long as he wears a tux I'm happy.
