Re: Tuxedos on Long Island
I heard someone review Tuxedo Park in Carle Place and said they were overpriced and a nightmare to work with...I wanted to use them since the place looks nice and it's in a great location for FH and his groomsmen...
What experiences have people had with them?

I do not recommend them at all. Our first meeting with them went SO well... they spent a lot of time with us and had my DH try on so many tuxes until we found THE one. Fast forward to the day before the wedding when all the guys went to pick their tuxes up... I went with my DH and GM to pick up their tuxes after three of our guys had already picked theirs up. Our GM tried the whole thing on and low and behold... it was NOT what we chose! The tie and the vest were wrong! So I told the woman helping us that it was wrong and she made me feel like an f-ing moron by saying 'No, Honey. This is what you chose...' UMM I THINK I KNOW WHAT I CHOSE! So after searching the whole place, the tie and vest that I had selected were 'for purchase only'. Why they even showed it to me in the first place, is beyond me... So fine, I chose a new tie and vest for the guys and she even gave me extras to give the guys who already picked their tuxes up. Ok so fast forward again to the day of the wedding... Every guy, literally every guy... had on a different pair of shoes, even when we CHOSEEEE the shoes! No ones tux fit them properly... my nephew's jacket was up to his elbows, the GM pants were falling down after the people at Tuxedo Park 'fixed them'. All in all, we had a horrible experience with them. I can understand that in a business like that they handle tons of weddings in one day, but they should at least hire people who know how to handle these situations professionally and don't make the bride/groom feel like they are losing their minds.

Esquire tuxedos in Merrick on Merrick Rd is very good. Michael is terrific to deal with and knows what he's doing. we only needed 3 tuxes but had no problems at all.

Re: Tuxedos on Long Island
I actually won 3 free tuxedos in the beginning of my wedding planning, so I wound up going with the place that I won them from b/c the guy there was such a sweetheart.
Camelot Tuxedos on Deer Park Avenue in north babylon, across from the middle school. He is just so nice, and so great to work with and he really gave us a great deal on everything. :)
Our rentals came out to I think $135.

I had a very great experience with them. They were so nice to us, really helped us out. The staff was extremely nice to everyone we went with there. I liked them alot. Their tux's are a little more than some other places. We had no issues with any of the tuxes, they were all great. I also really liked that nobody had to go in person to drop off the tuxes. They told us that we could leave it with somebody at JT at the end of the night and they pick it up the next day.

we also had a really great experience with them. yes, they are a bit pricier than other places, but their selection was much better than any other place we went to. we did get a bit of a discount since they are a preferred vendor of our RH. the tie that DH used was for purchase only, but they let us have it for free. the guys were all very happy they were able to leave their tuxes at WM. overall, i highly recommend them, we had no issues at all.

I also had a similar experience, and I know of many other couples (not on LIW) that I recommended them to after our wonderful initial experience with them -- all had major problems with the tuxedos.
My brother's jacket had a huge hole in the pocket, so everything he put in his pocket fell all the way down into his jacket. And they gave him 2 different sized shoes - neither was the right size!
One of the shirts had a huge burn mark on the front.
When my grandfather's vest didn't fit him right, they wanted to just pin it up on the shoulders rather than find him one that did fit.
If my DH wasn't there for the pick-up, 1/2 the groomsmen would have had the wrong style shirt collar. Thank goodness he was there to make sure it was corrected.
AND to top it all off, we went down there in person the day after the wedding to drop off the tuxedos and told him how unhappy we were. They shrugged their shoulders and basically said 'oh well'
Out of all the vendors we used, we were most disappointed with them. I definitely do not recommend them at all!
