Tuxedo's-second edit w/prices

Tuxedo's-second edit w/prices

Just started to think about tuxes.

I have no idea how/where/if I should even start looking into it. (My guess is that I should let FH take care of it). He, FFIL and FBIL all have their own but we still have 2 GM out of state and 2 in state that will need to rent. Plus my sister wants to get something for my nephew as well (he's only 1.5 now and just over 2 ATW).

Also if anyone has an idea of prices? How far in advance do you need to order?

Anyone know places in the Huntington/Commack area? I know the RH recommends Tuxedo Park but I have no idea where it is and if its any good.

ETA:

I posted on BHB also and realized it might be just as easy and probably less expensive to just ask them to buy a tux from a place like SYMS. It's only $120 there for a basic tux, which would probably match FH's since thats where HE got his tux from (I still need to ask him to take pix and find out brand tho).

I asked FH to make some calls but he'll be sleeping most of today since he worked last night. However, from what i've seen, its between $150 to $200 to rent wouldn't buying be a smarter choice????

Second edit:

For a change FH actually did call 3 places. It was a LOT less than I thought it would be. He said it started at $70 and basically went up for there.

I still want him to call Men's Warehouse though since I figure the GM could probably have the tux in their hands when they fly up from FL and it would make things MUCH easier that way.

we were reccomended to use tuxedo park, too. It's in Carle Place right next to Bridal Reflections. We heard great things about it and will probably use them!

What Dante's Tuxedo told us as far as kids go - it's usually cheaper for a parent to buy the tux for the child...they don't rent childrens...other than ties..

We're going with Dante Zeller... They have locations in NY & NJ which was very important for us...

I will check the contract when I get home to give you a price - it's in my binder...

Re: Tuxedo's

We looked at mens warehouse., which is good b/c 2 of our GM's are out of state...so they can assign us a group number and those GM's can get fitted in their state.

THey charge the same amount of the kids as if they were men, so we decided to buy our RB's their tux's which come out cheaper (40 bucks) as an xmas gift and save them an expense

Are they a chain?

I don't have the information on me but I could have sworn the number they gave me was 631. I didn't think they would recommend a place so far out

I think my dad wants to stick to someplace closer to their house. The place they used for my sisters wedding closed.

Thanks so much!

Since he's not technically my RB its not necessary for him to even wear a tux but my sister thinks it would be 'cute' since he'll match daddy. I told her to check at the flea market since I saw one there for $30. She said she doesn't want to spend the $ to buy since he'll grow out of it fast. Maybe i'll do something for his bday so she doesn't have to worry about it.

We're going to wait to see how he is the day of the wedding. If he's up to it, then cool.

Mens warehouse might work! It looks like there are several in Fl where they live. Plus there's one near Walt Whitman. Thats close enough that my dad won't complain (too much more than he already is since he has to wear one).

Do they rent them though? I can't really tell.

Re: Tuxedo's-Edited with another though/ques

Bumping for additional question.

Also, doing some homework it looks like there used to be a Tuxedo Park in Huntington but it might have closed or it moved to the location in Carle Place. That's probably the place my father used for my sisters wedding.

I wonder why they are on the sheet as a recommended vendor...maybe I should confirm with my RH.

Tuxedo Park is great. We are using them. Its not too far from Syms in Westbury actually. Its just north of Old Country Road off Glen Cove Road.

FH and I went in there at first to look and see colors of vests and all.

So unlike him, he fell in love with a new Calvin Klein tux that is over $160 to rent after coupon from RH so he is reconsidering- haha They do have more affordable ones too.

Then the guys can go in for fittings and you can get measurements from the OOS guys. They said all tux places do this as a courtesy so they can just go to the local tux shop in their state and get measured. We also have 2 guys OOS.

W/ Tuxedo Park, they have everything in stock and when they guys go 2 days before to p/u tux, they have them try it on again and can switch anything out if needed.

ETA- for the kids. They told us they start at size 4T. Im not sure if certain styles start smaller or not. It was a little cheaper than the adult sizes by like $30.

How much was it to rent otherwise?

Its sad but I think my dad would have a fit if he had to rent in CP (even though he works in Mineola).

If you go to someplace like a flea market they have tuxes there as well. I didn't look at the sizes but they were really small and ooooohhh so cute!!!

The ones at Attias FM near me were only $20 to buy. I was debating on doing that as part of a bday gift to my nephew.

i dont know if the parents were planning on buying a tux or renting...We always joke around that our RB will be the best dressed there, his dad works for armani, he is in charge of all the stores on the east coast. So guess ill just tell the parents about it and they can decide
