Tuxedo's-second edit w/prices

Original post by jsta76

Just started to think about tuxes.

I have no idea how/where/if I should even start looking into it. (My guess is that I should let FH take care of it). He, FFIL and FBIL all have their own but we still have 2 GM out of state and 2 in state that will need to rent. Plus my sister wants to get something for my nephew as well (he's only 1.5 now and just over 2 ATW).

Also if anyone has an idea of prices? How far in advance do you need to order?

Anyone know places in the Huntington/Commack area? I know the RH recommends Tuxedo Park but I have no idea where it is and if its any good.

ETA:

I posted on BHB also and realized it might be just as easy and probably less expensive to just ask them to buy a tux from a place like SYMS. It's only $120 there for a basic tux, which would probably match FH's since thats where HE got his tux from (I still need to ask him to take pix and find out brand tho).

I asked FH to make some calls but he'll be sleeping most of today since he worked last night. However, from what i've seen, its between $150 to $200 to rent wouldn't buying be a smarter choice????

Second edit:

For a change FH actually did call 3 places. It was a LOT less than I thought it would be. He said it started at $70 and basically went up for there.

I still want him to call Men's Warehouse though since I figure the GM could probably have the tux in their hands when they fly up from FL and it would make things MUCH easier that way.

oh no for kids it starts at 4T, does this mean the parents have to buy it...hmmm i guess so

If you go to someplace like a flea market they have tuxes there as well. I didn't look at the sizes but they were really small and ooooohhh so cute!!!

The ones at Attias FM near me were only $20 to buy. I was debating on doing that as part of a bday gift to my nephew.

i dont know if the parents were planning on buying a tux or renting...We always joke around that our RB will be the best dressed there, his dad works for armani, he is in charge of all the stores on the east coast. So guess ill just tell the parents about it and they can decide

Yeah my sister said she was going to rent a tux because its silly to buy when he's growing. I figured for $20-30 I might as well make a nice gesture.

yeah thats what i figured, plus it would be cute for him to go with the guys to get one...Although i spoke to the girl at tuxedo park and we told her how old our ring bearer was and she was telling us what great tuxes they have for that age and it will be a duplicate of FH's. So i think tuxedo park might have it for younger kids

My nephew will be 2 in Jan.

Originally we decided he wasn't going to be the RB but I changed my mind...but we're just going to wait and see how he is that day.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. And if for some reason he doesn't want to do it, we're not going to force him either.

My only thing now is should I change my website and add his name...Plus, when i'm ready to do programs, i'm not sure if I should have him as RB.

After Hours is always a good place since they are all over the country. FH was in 2 out of state weddings and got his tuxes from there. He was measure in LI and then picked up the tuxes where the wedding was. HTH
