Tuxedo's... when and how?

So how far in advance does your FH have to order his tux? How about his groomsmen?

Is the bride involved in the tux decisions? Do you go with FH first and help him pick out his tux or does he go with his Best Man? Does the bride decide on the Groomsmen's tuxedos?

All I know is that they don't have to be ordered as far in advance as our gowns and that they can rent them, but I know nothing else and FH is just cracking jokes right now - being a pain, so I thought I'd ask on here.

How do you pick a tux? I know nothing about this stuff...

We're getting married next month and we just went last month. FH and I went together. I helped him pick it out because he values my input. Also, since he doesn't know the dress I'll be wearing, I selected the color that looks best with my dress.

I went with DH and the GM, but just for support really. I left it up to DH to decide the style and the GM are supposed to do the same style, but maybe use different colors (i.e the groom in black jacket and pants w/ white vest and tie, and the GM w/ black jacket, pants, ties, and vests). They went and tried on different cuts, and DH wanted just my input. I think even though your FH is joking around now, when it comes time, he will want to look sharp. You can show him different pics of tuxes you liked (go to the knot maybe and look at different styles) to help him formulate his ideas. I would not worry though, and I wouldn't pick it out for him. You can go with him if he wants you to.

This is something I wouldn't put off for too long (there is a timeline on this site). I know we went sometime around March or April for August, so maybe start looking next month. It's good to get it done...and you don't want to do it too close to prom season, believe me. When we went there were already guys looking for prom tuxes!

They too usually do the same style (or close to) as the groom. My dad had a similar cut as my DH, but he owns his own tux, so why make him spend more...?

I wouldn't stress that YOU, the bride, has to pick out the tux for everyone. Like I said, FH may want you there because he values your opinion. Basically, you need one style...by tradition, anyway.
