A Date with Darkness: The Trial and Capture of Andrew Luster
120 min.
Jason Gedrick's role in this fact-based 2003 cable drama is quite a departure from the police officer he portrays on NBC's Boomtown. Gedrick will make your skin crawl as Luster, heir to the Max Factor cosmetics fortune, who made headlines after being accused of drugging and raping three women. However, the film lacks depth since it fails to delve into Luster's psyche or to develop its characters effectively, which leaves the viewer feeling disconnected from the victims. All that remains is a sleazy police procedural punctuated by gratuitous replays of Luster's sexual assaults. Marla Sokoloff, Sarah Carter and Stefanie Von Pfetten portray Luster's accusers
