Two Fold Question: Best Man

1) What are the responsibilities of the Best Man?

2) Did anyone have two Best Men, but only one MOH? If so, please let me know how you felt about it and how the two men felt about 'splitting' the responsbility.

I am having 2 best man and 1 maid of honor-

I would say that the best man's responsibilities are to keep the groom calm and to take care of any unforeseen issues ( in addition to planning the B party). Also to hand out tips and do anything that needs to be done on the day of.

We had 2 BM and 1 MOH

Nobody in my wedding party really had any responsibilities. I think that the 2 BM were supposed to keep my DH calm, but they like to bust chops and kept telling him it wasn't too late to RUN! They both gave speeches, which I REGRET! They were Terrible!!!! DH's brother told us to 'Get Drunk & F**K Alot!'

They didn't care about sharing the MOH. It made for nice pictures. I think my MOH was a little more disturbed than the BM.

We had 2 MOH and 2 BM, so I can't answer the first part of your question. But as far as splitting the responsibility goes, I think they were more than happy to have a partner in crime-- less pressure, more conspiratorial fun.

In the final analysis, ask whoever you and your FH want. Don't worry about how they'll handle splitting stuff. If they are true friends, they'll be happy to be standing by your side no matter what. And don't worry about having two and two. It doesn't make a difference. We only did it that way, b/c we are both libras and are consequentially teribly indecisive. Neither of us could choose just one...lol.

In retrospect, I regret expending so much energy obsessing over bridal party selection. Just do what feels right to you. Don't second guess yourself. There is no right and wrong.

My MOH got a little worried about such happening - when I told her we were thinking about it, she was like 'OH Great...now I can be ganged up by BOTH of them.'

I'm not really a fan of it...so I don't think we're going to go foward with the 2 BM's...thanks for everyone's honesty and feedback.

i was a MOH in a wedding which had 2 best men. both men and myself signed their marriage certificate. only one BM carried the ring. and both of them walked me down the aisle (i had one on each side) which was great cause i was nervous, had on really high heels, and knew i wouldn't trip - cause i had both of them holding me up.

the BM had no other responsibilites than that - the brides mom did all the tipping out that night. - but i think that it is customary for the BM to be given the $$ to tip all oof yur vendors for the night.

oh - each BM also gave their own speech.

We are having 2 best men and one MOH. One lives local, the other in N. Carolina. I am leaving all concerns about responsiblity sharing up to FH since he felt in his heart he couldn't chose one over the other. I have however decided that since FH hates to dance and will only be dancing the first dance with me, when BP is invited onto the dance floor, I will dance with one best man, and MOH with the other, and switch mid-way thru song.
