So, last night, FH and I were talking about who is going to officiate at our wedding. FH is catholic, I am Jewish, so we were looking to do a non-religious wedding. We met with an officiant (a rev from the site, doesn't matter who) and it just didn't feel right. This was over the summer, and we haven't met with anyone else yet. Last night, we talked about it and realized maybe we don't want someone who neither of us know... FH's great uncle is a priest, and I have a rabbi who I love from my temple when I grew up. We are now considering asking both of them to marry us...
my question is...is anyone having two officiants? How does this work? How has your family received the idea?

Re: Two Officiants
I think it is a great idea, My friend had two. Both were catholic but it shouldn't matter since you are getting married at the RH. Usually I don't think priests will marry out of the church, but since he is family there shouldn't be a problem. I think it would be very special, go for it!!

Re: Two Officiants
I'm having two, a Catholic priest and a rabbi. I'm jewish, FH is catholic. I'm so happy we're doing it this way . At first we wanted to do something completely non-denominational since neither of us is religous, but then we realized it would be nice to expose each of our families to the traditional elements of each faith, so we're incorporating both into our ceremony and I'm very happy with the way it's turned out so far.

Re: Two Officiants
We are having 2 officiants, a deacon from my church and a cantor for my FH. I have to say this was against my will because my FH is not even a little religious but it seems to be working out.

Re: Two Officiants
Monsignor Lisante & Rabbi Block will be performing my ceremony--
Just make sure who ever you are using will work together sometime before the wedding to prepare the order of events. You don't want guests to be confused.

I am just so pleased. I have heard so many good things about them. Were they funny during the ceremony? I think that they would be.

Re: Two Officiants
Thanks for the feedback, guys, I'm feeling better. I talked about it with my mom and she loved the idea. Now we have to talk to FH's fam and make sure the officiants are both willing/able to do it!
