TwoBugs...

...I'm sorry about the Astros!

(I'm also sorry that my conspiracy theory didn't work out, but that's another story!)

Re: TwoBugs...

Yeah, what a bad night. I'm already tired of people coming into my office and pointing at me and laughing...

The only good thing to come out of this is that the Cards have a better chance of beating Boston than Houston did. So as of today (well, maybe tomorrow because it still stings a little) I am officially a Cardinals fan.

But I was really hoping your conspiracy theory would pan out...

Re: TwoBugs...

I was actually rooting for the 'Stros last night .. wanted to see Clemens pitch against the Sox in the WS. It was a great game, except for the outcome

Sorry TwoBugs I can imagine that you are feeling it hard surrounded by Cards fans

All I can hope for now is that the Cards beat up on the Sox , big time

Re: TwoBugs...

I just found this and thought that while it doesn't really fit into your conspiracy theory, it's an interesting bit of trivia nonetheless:

'If you're a John Kerry supporter, you might want to consider throwing your karmic weight behind St. Louis in the series.

The Cards have won the World Series twice in election years. In 1944, the Cardinals topped the cross-town St. Louis Browns in six games. That same year, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, a Democrat, won re-election for an unprecedented fourth term, this time over Thomas Dewey.

In 1964, St. Louis vanquished the Yankees in seven games, and President Lyndon Johnson, a Democrat, defeated Republican nominee Barry Goldwater in a landslide.

So the trend is clear: when the Cards win the World Series in an election year, the Democrats take the White House. This revelation must be terribly conflicting for Massachusetts residents.'
