TWU Strikes! No trains or buses...who else is staying home?

I'm in shock and half asleep still, I can't believe they actually went on strike. I definitely can't make it into work...who else is staying home?

Unfortunately, DH has to go to work since he works in one of the boroughs and could drive.

Wow, I'm astonished and proud of all those that care enough about their jobs to leave their houses in darkness to get to work. I sure don't! Companies that provide shuttles are smart, because how is one expected to get back using mass transit since most companies don't begin their contingency plans until tomorrow?

Aw thanks, but for myself, I was threatened to lose vacation days for 2006 if we did not make at least an attempt (no excuse)....I NEED ALL THE VACA DAYS I CAN GET FOR THE WEDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I came from Queens to Bethpage - so I drove - I actually got here much quicker then I normally do!

i made it into the office today... wasn't as crazy as i thought.

took the lirr to penn and then the path down to christopher street and walked 10 minutes to the office.

dreading the commute home though

I'm jealous! I'm at work. Made it in with relative ease on the LIRR. I live in Kew Gardens and thankfully had the forsight to by my ticket ahead of time. The lines for the ticket machine were insane.

I walk to work everyday in Manhattan, so the strike hasn't effected me at all...I am really lucky!

i live in bklyn so i had to take the command bus at 7am and i didn't get to work until 10..

this strike better end SOOONNNN

It took FH, my mom and I almost 4 hours to get to work. We stood at the Jamaica station of the LIRR for 2 hours (just waiting to buy tickets). Tonight my bosses father will be footing the bill for a stay at a hotel.

I was lucky enough to be put up in a hotel by my job so I didn't have to deal w/ the commute. But I hope this strike ends soon. Otherwise I'm going to be trapped in Manhattan.

Kudos to those employers that provided shuttle buses for their employees. I think that was a great idea!
