came up yesterday about the NO KIDS at the wedding.. FH and I agreed that we were not having any kids (excluding his nephew) at the wedding. He does have a few cousins that are 11/12. they were the exception. WELL, now his family got wind and they flipped. Pretty much told him if we dont have the other kids(5 of them) that are between the ages of 3 and 8 that noone will come. W.T.F. Who says that.? Why cant anyone respect the fact that we didnt want kids. Oh and the best part is that he said he never said that. He wanted the kids from the beginning. GImme a break. Yesterday was the worst day ever. We fought so hard. I basically was given an altermadem . Its the kids or no wedding!!!! Which basically means that I have no choice. My vision of having a kid free wedding was shattered. All I can do now is hope and pray that NONE of them come. And god help it if I hear 1 of them scream or cry. I'll blow my lid for sure. The last thing I want, is to watch my video and hear/see one of them. It just *****, cause these are 2nd and 3rd cousins. Is there no limit as to who to invite. These damn italians want the whole army there. Sorry for the long vent, but I have to get it out.. UGhhhhhhhhhhhh and it's only the beginning. theres still 4 1/2 months left of BS

I am so sorry! I know that you wanted no kids at the wedding but I'm sure you won't even notice them.

I know it stinks. We're having a kid free wedding and actually my side of the family (Italians) were ok with it. It was his family that had more of an issue with it.
I just don't understand why people don't want to go anywhere without their children... isn't it nice to have a kid free night out?

Thats my point. There are 2 things that are not kid appropriate. Funerals and weddings. And you know noone ever watches their kids. They let them run a mock. They take over the dance floor. Ugghhhh dont let me get started again LOL

DH and I had that problem. We didn't want kids at the wedding, but MIL said they should be there, fortunately for us, FIL told her that the kids wouldn't behave and we shouldn't have to waste our money on them. All of the people we invited without their kids came and stayed the whole night.

I am sorry...I bet the ultimatum made you really angry...I don't tolerate them. I think the decision should by your and FH...If people don't come, too bad. People that treat you that way aren't people you need to 'celebrate' with. Just my two cents. My wedding is having 10 kids under the age of 10... They are all my nieces and nephews and we are seating them together with puzzles and stuff to entertain them at the reception...I am not worried, as they are very well behaved.... But 2nd and 3rd cousins of the groom seem a bit removed....Hoping it all turns out the way you want. I know you will be beautiful and have a great day regardless....

Im sorry u have to be put in this position and be forced to accept what you dont want for your wedding. And whats up with FH leaving you out there to dry like that??
Im having a NO KID wedding and after what i saw at my sister's wedding im definitely saying no kids... They screamed and chased each other through out the wedding/dance floor. People couldnt dance because the kids were running and screaming all over the place bumping into everyone. I rememeber having to grab them and tell them to stop or go sit down! Ridic!!! I dare somebody to threaten me with not coming----then DONT!!!!!

I would say stick to your guns about no kids. We are and we are going to have the same ultimatum. Our attitude is then don't come. And even if it was FH giving the no wedding ultimatum then I'd say fine no wedding then. I'm sitting here getting angry that your FH would dare give you an ultimatum such as that. W T F. That's just me. Kids don't belong at evening weddings.
My BIL and sister bought it up last night like whoa is me. You aren't having kids. I just changed the subject.

My FH is afraid of what is family is going to say. Its the FIL's that are saying it's not right and that they'll not be there. I am trying to be understanding that it's his wedding too. His whole point is just invite them. Most likely they wont show he says. OH god but what if they do. I just saw a pic from Colleens wedding with a kid under the dais. I will just die if I see that. Please girls. Keep your fingers crossed for me that none of the kids show up. PLEASE LOL

we had that same problem with his side. His parents were fine with it, it was his grandma that had the problem, and i told her INLESS YOU WANNA OAY FOR THEM THEY ARE NOT COMING. that shut her up reall fast!!!
but as for you i know you dont want them there but if its gunna keep peace in the family, i would have them come.

Sorry babe this is what I would do. Call his bluff and give him an altemadem right back. Ok u want kids there? Then no wedding, then stick to ur guns. Explain to his family how important it is that they aren't there. Then say eff it if the parents of the monsters don't come either. Good luck. However, if his parents are halping pay for the wedding and are threatening their $, that's another story.

We had no kids and got some people whining about it but i told those people that i wanted to make sure that everyone had a god time at the wedding including all the mommies...and in the end it was great... give it some time to cool down and maybe try to discuss it with FH again...

I can understand how you don't want any children at the wedding. The only children invited to our wedding are the ones that are in the wedding and lucky us they really are the best kids in the world. They are so well behaved (knock on wood). Plus, they are all FH's cousin who we see at least once a week. The other one is my 4 year old sister and I can't imagine my day without her there.
Hopefully, they will get tired and fall asleep on the chairs.

Re: Ugggghhh the topic I've been dreading
OK girls.. So I'm updating you on the drama/saga of the kids. I had a talk with FMIL last night. She expressed how important it was for her neices to be invited with their kids. Her reason being is.. They are from out of town. If they are told from the get go that the kids cant go, that they might not come. She wants them to have the option to leave them with someone or bring them. And that even if they do bring them, its a family event and they should be there. I saw/understood how impotatnt it was to her so I compromised and said ok. Her compromise to me was that there will NOT be any kids at the shower. I was DEF ok with that. So... still keep those fingers crossed for me that they stay home LOL.. Thatnks for all the ears and for the tips.

Re: Ugggghhh the topic I've been dreading
Boooooooo that stinks... she should at least offer to pay, since you didn't want to invite them in the first place.
We had an issue like this and we invited the parents and their 3 kids (oldest is 10), but when they replied, they replied for Mr and Mrs - 2! No kids!!!
Wouldn't it be nice if parents could look at the big picture and respect the bride and groom's wishes?
hope all works out for the best... maybe when you send out the invites, they'll reconsider!!!
