Uggghh!

Uggghh!

I know that my MoH who is pregnant went to her mothers house and let it slip that I am getting married. I am not inviting her mother and brother- I just simply got too many people on the guest list (220) atm. I also had told her that I just told FH (yelled at him) that he couldn't add anyone more onto the guest list atm because we just sent everything to the calligrapher to get done... also we have WAY too many as it is.
Also I know for a fact that her mom won't come considering that since her mother died she doesn't do birthdays, funerals, weddings that sort of thing. Her brother- well I just don't want him there.

Anyhow she didn't seem mad but her husband (who I have known since I was 10) got a bit surprised that we weren't having any children at the wedding. I just simply explained to him that it costs too much (I exaggerated the price) to have children and that we want the adults to have a good time without their kids. He's thinking that since I know him so long that his two children (well three by March) are the exception to this... grr

I hope that this won't lead to his wife (my friend that I met in college- I introduced the two of them) not being in my BP. I am going to talk to her tomorrow and try and smooth things over- any advice?

it's your wedding, you make the rules, plain and simple. you say no kids, then there will be no kids. end of story.

don't stress!

I agree, gotta do what you gotta do to make it work for you and your budget. I did the same with engagement party....very few children were invited.

Yes I politely told him that the only reason why FH's niece was invited is that she's our FG... if not she'd be off the list..
what kills me though is that I put on the STD: Mr & Mrs (not Mr. & Mrs. & Family)- how bad can he be with that?

I think though my MoH knew that we weren't having children at the wedding but didn't tell him?

Don't even feel like you have to do any explaining, Its very common to not have kids period. I'm not regardless if it was a cost factor or not.

To me, this is the worst part about planning. This is supposed to be a fun time yet there are always those people who think they can dictate the rules and make it so hard for us. Theyre not throwing the wedding so they have no idea how expensive it can get. Do what you wanna do and if you dont want kids, then thats that. And if you cant afford to invite certain people, then dont.
