Ugghh-Dress Drama

Ugghh-Dress Drama

I just called my bridal shop to check the status of my dress and they told me maybe July 14th. When I bought this dress they told me it'll come in this month. I'm SO MAD and STRESSED about it not getting here in time. This dress is also listed as a priority gown on the maggie sottero site so I dunno what is the issue. I don't know what kind of alterations I need either. UGHHHH!!

What a pain that is! They should have told you straight out if it was going to take that long to come in. These salons know that brides worry, so I just don't get that. Try not to worry too much, you'll get wrinkles. :) Even if it comes in two weeks before (worst case scenario), they'll have to prioritize your alterations. You'll go to the front of the line. Hopefully, they'll steam the gown for you and it'll be nice and fresh for your wedding.

Lol so funny I just called my salon yesterday and they said the same thing! They said alterations are only usually started 6 weeks before so not to worry.. I figure whatevs, they're the experts! Lol. Don't let yourself get too stressed over it, they'll work it out!!

Aside from peace of mind, you do not need it any earlier. No worries.

So nice to vent on here...I feel better now. I was just kind of annoyed with the owner because she was disregarding what I was saying. I told her that I understand that the shipment date is out of her control however she should not have quoted me a June arrival time. So my mind has been set on this June time frame for months.

And then I felt like she was getting angry with me telling me it's late because I needed to get the petite length. Then I told her well, you are the ones who put in the order so if you know petite length would take longer then this should have been communicated to me. Then she just kept repeating well we couldn't order you the regular length....I was just fed up by that point.

Don't stress! You're absolutely right. It is frustrating, but at least it will be with plenty of time to spare. My dress was altered too because I am petite, so the dress designer basically made me a custom dress. I was told it would take at least 8 months and it came in 4. I midly freaked because now it's just going to be sitting there for months, and I could have waited to purchase it and saved up a little more $. Just need to remind yourself that it may not have been exactly what you planned for, but at least it's not a crisis!

My BM dresses were in a month before they informed us because they didn't want the girls going in too early for alterations. A lot of girls might lose or gain weight right before a wedding so I'm sure that's why. I'm not sure if they do that with the Bride's dress too.

When did you order the dress? My shop told me something similar regarding the delivery date (it actually came about 2 months later than when they said it would) but luckily it turned out not to be a problem, but it is really frustrating to be in limbo.

Maybe when you get the alterations you could take it to a seamstress instead of having them done at the shop. I think independent seamstresses tend to work a little faster and are a little more flexible with timing of fittings.

Good luck!
