Ugh! Any other mixed couples?

Ugh! Any other mixed couples?

Ugh! So after I spent many hours out of the state finding the perfect unitarian universalist officant for my wedding (and one who gave me a super discounted price) my future in laws are NOW giving me a hard time about it and emailing me officiants they would be more comfortable with.

I'm Catholic and my FH's family is Jewish, but my FH and I attend unitarian universalist services on Sundays. It's a very liberal religion that combines common beliefs of all major religions, including Judiasm and Christianity.

I already thought I compromised early in my relationship with this issue and now they want me to have nothing of my religion on my wedding day?

Since you and FH are swearing your love and commitment in front of God, it should be your religion that's celebrated. If you want to include blessings and other rituals from FH's religion, then that would be great but your in-laws need to butt the hell out. You could also have a joint ceremony maybe with 2 different clergy.

FH and I are having a friend of his do our ceremony who happens to be Wiccan. There's been a little buzz within my family that a 'witch' is marrying us but basically I've said this is my wedding and I will celebrate however FH and I want to.

Well his parents gave us money ($12,000) as a graduation/wedding gift, but they told us we can use it for whatever we want. We are paying for the rest. My parents can't afford anything but they have emotionally supported my FH throughout medical school (I spent many rent free months doing rotations at my parents house and my mom would even make me lunch every day for me when I was studying for boards!)
